For our annual October Food & Drink issue, we are so excited to feature a true local on our cover: Alex Hyman, the 20-year-old founder of @chxsandwiches. Hyman grew up in Westwood and Brentwood, his dad is a teacher at Paul Revere and he graduated from Crossroads School. Somehow, while studying hospitality at @cornelluniversity, he managed to master the art of the perfect fried chicken sandwich and launched his successful food truck while on summer break. “I thought there was a gap in the industry, and I wanted to offer good quality, creative food and do catering,” says the chef, who worked at Michelin-starred @kalirestaurant and Italian hotspot @ospi while in high school. “I think the impact that fine dining had on the food and the service is just an extra level of attention to detail. Everything we sell is fresh, organic and really good quality.” Although Hyman is back at school, the truck is still going strong—found most days on San Vicente right outside of CVS. We encourage all of you to check it out! 💙

Went on a little field trip last night with some friends to see American Idiot. I’m pretty sure one of my friends pulled a muscle rocking out so hard. It made my heart smile. There are still some reasonable seats left during the week. You can use my Friends & Family Promo Code. Go to…. www.CenterTheatreGroup.Org and enter the code DEAFWEST. Last performance is Nov 16th. 🎸 link is in my bio.

Go Dodgers. 💙

My first time in Hawaii. How is that even possible? I had the most phenomenal experience. The Poke’, the people, the crystal blue water, the glorious sunsets. To my friend who hosted this magical event and to all the beautiful people I got sunburned with. Mahalo.

So THIS happened…
The soundtrack of my youth had a reunion concert on Saturday night at the Greek Theater. Willie Nelson, Joe Walsh, Neil Young, & Stephen Stills, with a tribute to David Crosby.

I have always been a stalker…
( I mean a groupie) of these legendary musicians.

Thank you to Kristen Stills and #AutismSpeaks for inviting me to introduce these giants of rock ‘n’ roll. I don’t even smoke weed and I was high all night.

Also, a shout out to my new friend, Amanda Kloots, who helped me MC this magical event. We watched the whole concert from the wings, pinching ourselves all night.

Bucket list. ✅
