First time for everything they say.. I initially thought this was going to be an experience I’d forget and not care for. No. This was breathtaking.. This was a weekend camping trip.. A camping trip you’d never want to leave. A total of 70 beautiful souls came through to experience this unforgettable time. The feeling of being a kid again. Camping with friends you never thought existed, creating memories. Sharing love and joy with one another. You would’ve had to be there to truly understand what I’m sayin’. I’m usually in my own bubble but during this I was able to show sides of me that are covered with a mask. At times I wanted to just sleep it away.. I was out of my comfort zone, it was the best uncomfortable feeling ever. Being surrounded by loving people had me restless. I felt renewed. I just want to thank @papistazi & @joywalker98 for creating a beautiful experience for us to enjoy and share together. (Tried tagging as many people as I could, if you’re left out my bad 🥲) thanks to everyone for being uniquely you. Thank you @campkumbaya 💚🤎

I’m still trying to find the words to describe this weekend at @campkumbaya 🥹

I went back-and-forth on going for weeks and decided literally the last day of registration to go. I thought this would just be a cute little weekend in the woods where I would have some time away from the city to rest and recharge, but what I got was so so much more. This weekend inspired me, it renewed me, it held me and it grew me. It was damn near spiritual fr.

In 3 days, I built community with complete strangers. However I felt like my true self and actually present in body more than I have in weeks. It was so incredible. I went on this camping trip completely solo, being only person there from the city of Chicago. Dedicating myself to a 10+ hour round-trip road trip, and I would do it all over again.

To my new STL and Kansas City fam—You are a special bunch! Thank you for making me feel seen and truly at home 🫶🏾 I’ll see ya’ll soon!

A special thank you to our camp directors @papistazi and @joywalker98 —I was giving you flowers all weekend (event girly to event girly), and I really hope you know you guys did a phenomenal job! And we’re all counting down the days to the next one! #campkumbaya 🫶🏾 #blueteam 💙 #cabin4 🤞🏾

If you personally know me, you’d know I’m extremely shy around big crowds & new people. I decided to get out my shell and go to @campkumbaya and it was the best weekend ever 🏕️ shoutout to all the amazing people I met. Social anxiety who?!

Went to camp for the first time in my life and had a BALL!! 🏕️✨

I got the chance to unplug, unwind, and have a good time. I made the decision to go last minute, and I’m so glad I did! I had so much fun doing the different activities, meeting new people, yapping it up, and just being outside (even though bugs were there too 😭). This was also a nice cross over episode with my kickball folks S/O to my yellow banditzz 🤟🏾!! Truly grateful for the experience and the friends made along the way🤎

- A Happy Camper
