A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at Artspace for our end-of-year celebration with @friezeofficial.

It was a real joy to gather with our community of artists and benefactors — and to look ahead to 2026 together.

We were also proud to welcome Frieze’s first event in Australia, and to celebrate the beginning of new conversations between Sydney and the wider region.

If you’d like to learn more about supporting Artspace, or to be invited to future events, please reach out to our Development team at development@artspace.org.au mail 📩— or visit the link in our bio🔗to find out more about becoming a benefactor.

It was a thought-provoking, international-minded AUSxUSA ‘Benefit Dinner’ in Sydney that avoided too much cross-pollinated political grand-standing. Bi-partisan, you say? Refreshingly, pretty much so.👌
It was all about celebrating success. The night focused on the good the two allies have achieved on both the business & cultural fronts.
The American Australian Association (AAA) @_aaausa
is a non-profit organization that was set up in 1948: to strengthen relationships between the USA & Australia. Headquartered in NYC, with branches & activities across the U.S. & Australia, the purpose of the AAA is to build deeper ties between the U.S. & Australia through business, innovation, education and culture, providing a platform for networking, policy discussions, cultural events & corporate collaboration.
One of its most significant contributions is its Education Fund, which has awarded more than $15 million in scholarships to support postgraduate study and research between the two countries. Fields range from medicine, science, and engineering to the arts, sustainability & champions artists, musicians, filmmakers & performers in the U.S.
The AAA’s Benefit Dinner at the @HiltonSydney saw a mega mix of leaders from business, government & academia & inducted of Michael ‘Mick’ Farrell of @resmed , Chris Roberts and Penny Fowler @rubybeyonce as this years AAA honorees.
Great to chat with the newly installed American Consul General (covering NSW, QLD & Norfolk Island) - Jeremy Cornforth & his divine wife Eleanor along with a seemingly strong sea of suits …. Not forgetting @honjuliebishop Campbell Reid, @colettegarnsey Ian Irving, Nick Greiner, The Hon. Arthur Sinodinos AO, Tony Fay, @moggs6 Will Wilson, Bill Winning, Frances & @bubbie0902 John Ingham and my hosts, Ben Scott @(who is a new AAA committee member) & his wife, Pensiri
along with Ginia & Simon Robinson, Dr @dartaq, Sarah Blake, Georgina Duckworth, @hamish.c.stuart , Susan Wheeldon & Jenelle Webster & Benjamin Webster.
@deltagoodrem shone - & as a cancer survivor & thriver she also accepted an inductee award & performed in her usual brilliant style.👌❤️💥🙌🏻 #business #AUSUSA #resmed #deltagoodrem #bigendoftown

‘Forest diary’ 2000 is made up of 360 individual prints, placed in a mesmerising arrangement that is dizzyingly non-linear. Faces and plants blur together in this phenomenal photomontage that demonstrates the innovation and imagination of contemporary Chinese artists.

‘New Asian Art’ opens at the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, on 13 September 2025.

Thank you @missebear for the inclusion on your table with the irrepressible @dartaq for the @sapphireaustralia #sapphireball2025 - an exceptional night on Friday at Carriageworks. The night raised $1.4M for organisations associated with ocean conservation including:
The Great Barrier Reef Foundation
The Great Southern Reef Foundation
Sea Forest Foundation
Surfers for Climate
Seadragon Conservation
…which is a drop in the ocean for what we need collectively to combat climate change effects, but a whole lot of goodness to be used to help those that are at the coal face.
Loved seeing our other gorgeous client @jentheinvisiblewall and the fab duo Erin Barr and @stevenalderton in the mix

About the artwork
Nature Nurture - Hiromi Tango,
Extract Essay by DR Patricia Jungfer, Consultant Psychiatrist, Gadigal Country | Sydney

Part 1

“ The use of light and colour is a significant component of Hiromi’s creative process. In the work “Nature Nurture” the eye is drawn to the red argon light which pulses in a rhythmic and hypnotic fashion. The pulsation of the light evokes connections to the heart and the brain. The outline can be seen as either representing a loosely drawn heart or a schema for the brain. While the community generally conceptualises the heart as the organ in our bodies that pulsates few would be aware that the brain when exposed and released from its bony case pulsates in an equally repetitive and rhythmical fashion. The heart has been romanticised as being the seat of emotion in man whereas the brain has been viewed as the origin of thought and rational behaviour. It is however the brain that perceives manipulates and processes information which includes emotion. Freud,well-known in modern society as the father of psychiatry focused on the role of unconscious processes in human behaviour. He began his career in the area of neural science and discovered that the nerve cell is the fundamental building block and signalling unit of all its systems. Without the brain, there cannot be the conscious processing of emotion. In more recent years, scientific research has learnt that neural connections and processes are regulated by the activation of genes which form the blueprint for our biological processes. This scientific knowledge structures and influences the work of Hiromi Tango. “
