A stolen contractor truck led deputies on a pursuit across Monroe County Wednesday afternoon, ending on Lyell Avenue in Rochester.

Authorities say the driver caused five crashes before being taken into custody. A deputy and K-9 were injured during the arrest.

A man accused of firing at marshals in Buffalo has been named as a person of interest in the murder of Majesty Montgomery in Rochester.

The Rochester Police Department confirmed with News 8 that 30-year-old Keith Holmes was named as a person of interest in Montgomery’s murder. Montgomery had been reported missing, and her body was discovered buried at a large property in Yates County in May.

On Monday afternoon, members of the US Marshals Task Force arrived at an address on Glenwood Avenue in Buffalo to execute the arrest warrant. Investigators said that as they approached the bedroom where Holmes was, he discharged a firearm and struck a shield held by one of the responding marshals.

Team coverage with @dashawnjtv after a home exploded on Lake Avenue.

We were both at completely different stories when we got the call. Got to the scene ASAP and worked together to grab interviews.

It was definitely an adrenaline rush. We went live every half hour 4,430,5,530,6. That’s the most I’ve ever gonna live before. This is the 5pm.

The Rochester fire department said they did not believe anyone was inside the home. We didn’t see the homeowner when we were there, but witnesses told us it felt like an earthquake, and many people ran outside to see if anyone was in need of help.

The home was demolished, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
