To understand violence against Black women, we have to look beyond individual acts of violence and at the conditions surrounding them.

Economic insecurity. Housing instability. Unequal access to resources. Community violence. Systemic barriers. Gaps in culturally responsive support.

The story isn’t that Black communities are inherently more violent. It’s that Black women can be disproportionately positioned to experience violence while facing additional barriers to safety, support, and healing.

When we shift the lens, we can ask better questions, build better solutions, and move closer to prevention.
