“Exciting news! Bringing MYE Drop PRP Therapy for dry eyes to @davekading in Seattle. 💧

Did you know PRP, or platelet-rich plasma eye drops, are made from the patient’s own blood? They offer a promising treatment option for patients struggling with dry eyes, especially those who don’t respond well to traditional therapies or prefer natural approaches.

We are thrilled to announce that Tammy Bogetti, MBA, was honored by @OWLdiversity with the prestigious Catalyst Award!

The Catalyst Award, sponsored in 2023 by #CorneaGen, honors an individual who has contributed significantly to helping others advance their careers in eye care. This award is a testament to Tammy’s outstanding work and dedication as well as the trust and support of our clients.

Tammy is the Chief Commercial Officer of Bryn Mawr Communications (BMC) and the Cofounder of @YoungMDConnect, a diverse community of young and aspiring #ophthalmologists. She also founded MillennialEYE, a publication dedicated to sharing the voices and achievements of trainees and young #ophthalmologists. Tammy has spent 21 years in the #ophthalmic industry working in R&D, medical affairs, post-market research, professional education, business development, and, most recently, overseeing multiple teams at BMC, where she is a proponent for women’s leadership and sponsorship.

Thank YOU for being an essential part of @wilder4adventures' success story.

@barre.and.brunch, a PGY1 going into derm—currently in her prelim year, wanted to share some tips that proved helpful on her own journey! And, of course, everyone here at YMDC wanted to wish you a great big GOOD LUCK! 👍 Learn more about how we can support you: da.youngmdconnect.com

Repost:
It’s residency application season! 🩺Best of luck to everyone! If you’re applying to derm, anesthesia, radiology, or PM&R, you have to apply to and rank prelim/TY years as an extra challenge. As a PGY1 going into derm currently in my prelim year, I wanted to share what helped me when applying and ranking prelim years.

I made a spreadsheet with these things (+salary and other objective logistics). So here’s my top 3 qualities!

1. Location: do you want to go somewhere new, return somewhere you have a connection, or would you rather minimize moving and stay in your current city or move near a potential advanced program? Also consider how location impacts cost of living, need for a car, activities outside of work, and patient population.

2. Schedule/workload: you’ll be busy no matter what, but program schedules/workload ranges a lot: 24-hr shifts vs rotating call, ICU vs nights vs gen surg, patient volume & acuity…It’s important to figure out what you prefer (or prefer to avoid). Try to find out caps for interns, work start and end times, etc. Also be sure to note the vacation policy!

3. Electives: consider both total elective blocks and options. Some programs offer only 1 while others have up to 6! Look for options that interest you and are relevant for your future specialty. For example, I looked for rheum, allergy, and ID.

Another key is culture, which is hard to get a good sense of until interviews. You want to feel supported and surrounded by good people. I found it helpful to talk 1:1 with a resident who had done or is currently in the program, ideally someone in your future specialty, to hear their unfiltered experience and ask specific questions.

Stipends and housing also vary. Many, but not all, programs cover the cost of Step 3 and/or test prep materials🙌🏼! A few programs also provide low-cost housing, which is great if you’re moving somewhere for only 1 year.
