POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

@monsterenergy invited us along to @cannonballireland over the weekend as part of their space activation program.

It’s amazing to see skateboarders being invited in front and center for the second time this year in Limerick city. Thank you again to everyone that pulled up !

Very sad to see @primetimecork closing… it’s cliche, but
Shops have always been more than places to buy things — they are community hubs, where like minded strangers become friends, where stories are shared and lifelong friendships are created

Here is @cian_eades I wouldn’t have met the person in this if it wasn’t for a shop (Tubes)… 20 years ago I sponsored him, and Cian went on to be one of Irelands most successful professional skateboarders of all time (check out his insta page) and what a privilege it was/is to watch him grow — not just as a skateboarder, but as a person — and it was honestly one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. And here I am seeing him for the first time in years… why? A shop, this time primetime, as is due to close…

This is just one story, and I know there are thousands, especially from Primetime’s 34 years in Ireland, creating a counter culture Mecca for over 3 decades …

Seeing these shops close down is a real shame… We’re not just losing businesses… we’re losing the spaces that shape us, support us, and bring us together. Thanks to Niall for the hook-ups and thd memories. A living Legend for what he created and the way he created it!

Here’s to the shops etc that built our communities — and the relationships we’ll carry with us forever.

Anyone else sad to see something go? Institutions like Lennox’s, Tubes, the Coliseum, the western star, Nash 19 etc etc the list goes on and on 😮‍💨

The last (but by no means least) Dad of the Year finalist is the Republic of Ireland’s Dave Hurley @davehurley_

You’re in for a treat with this edit, this Dad is not scared of still getting his tech on.

✨ I lived in Limerick for nearly a fifth of my life. And I don’t want to generalise… but let’s generalise for a moment 😂.

Before moving there, my impression was shaped by headlines that often painted the city negatively, or by the rugby teams I played against—teams with a grit and edge that felt different, like they had a point to prove. Maybe that came from the press, maybe from not being seen as the “alpha county” in Ireland. They didn’t ask for respect, they demanded it. (My amateur psychology take anyway haha).

But living there showed me the real depth of the people. Yes, the edge was still there, born of a tougher environment in places. But every action has an equal and opposite reaction—and the flip side was some of the most community-driven, mental-health-focused advocates I’ve ever met.

Today I reconnected with two of them—old skateboarding friends who are now a psychotherapist and a social worker. Proof of the heart that beats in Limerick.

In summary: Limerick was badly marketed for a time. But live there, and you quickly see the down-to-earth soul of the place. It was special to reconnect, to see the changes, and to see what has stayed beautifully the same.

Massive thanks to O’Mahonys for making today possible—their staff and shop are a reflection of everything good about Limerick. It was a pleasure 🙏🙌
