This week we had the fantastic experience of having City & Guilds Principal Verifier @nick_obern in, delivering update training for 5 of our core instructors.

The two days were utilised by covering both Aerial & Ground units, dispelling myths and insuring our staff are fully compliant for training, in-line with NPTC assessment criteria.

The two days were a real success, but most notable was the level of experience set within the group.

Grouping @david.yeardley @tommyw14 @timberwolf190 @q.reynolds07 & @nick_obern proved to be one of the finest team of tree men I have had the pleasure to be amongst. What a proud moment for myself and @ground_up_training.

Great work boys ✅🫡

Good stuff going on this week!

We were invited to carry out some felling by the Corporation Of London recently, this was our first week using Epping forest as a training site.

What a joy to work in such a special location.

Also, great to have the highly esteemed @q.reynolds07 joining us this week. I believe Quentin will be a great asset to the training industry.

Truly, the real joy of running Ground Up Training is meeting so many individuals with such a wide spectrum of experience.

Our candidates getting to spend time with such experienced instructors is super important to me.

Well done all for a fantastic week, great vibes all round. ♥️

✅CS31 X4 training complete | trained by @david.yeardley | Good luck next week boys

✅CS39 complete X3 passes | taught by @q.reynolds07

✅On-site work experience training X2 | trained by myself & @tommyw14

What a remarkable year for both me and the business.

We have had so many amazing people come through this year, from amazing candidates, to amazing staff. I truly thank everyone one of you.

A big accomplishment this year has been building on my full time team.

I met @david.yeardley as a young 18 year old, looking for some work. I had contacted his company boasting, “I’ve been climbing for 2 years!”
I soon met the toughest, highest standards I’ve come across to-date. I continued to work for Dave for multiple years to come, with much history!

20 years later I invited him to join me, co-teaching some of my courses at Ground Up Training. Now with a full year under his belt I can’t be any more impressed with his development and progress.
Slowly, I am moulding this old dinosaur to be a fine asset to the training industry. I struggle to find many people with 35 years of true climbing experience.

Also another massive gain was the addition of @nikkiwellman007 to the admin team. These girls are super sharp 🙏🏻⚡️

Here’s to 2023 with new foundations.

As always, many thanks to all the incredible sub-contractor staff that work for us through the year. I couldn’t do it without you.

@timberwolf190 @nik_of_the_woods @benmintyrose @tommyw14 @arboritom @arboholic @climbingjez @chrisdaniel1983 @woodley5945 @benhodge6 @analogdrums @tracy.willis.5268 +!

Usually my Friday wrap up post start with “what a great week”, however this week I thought I’d share a difficult week.

Thanks to @just.stopoil there has been many complications this week, due to candidates and staff members not being able to get to site.

❌CS38 assessments X4 - cancelled

❌CS39 full course X4- Cancelled

❌ Wood chipper integrated course X4 - cancelled

✅CS30 completed X3 passes, 1 candiate not able to attend - trained by @tommyw14

✅CS30 completed X3 passes, 1 candidate not able to attend - trained by @david.yeardley

✅CS30 refresher and assessment completed, X2 passed - trained by myself

Me and my solid team work hard to ensure everything is carried out to a high standard, even when every morning has produced set backs. Very proud of you all this week, for making it work and producing successful candidates. Especially the admin girls dealing with some major rearranging on the spot. 🏅

And our forestry logging section of the business has started.

We are now in full swing recycling last years timber from which we felled dead dying and diseased trees from our local woods.
