Birdy #151 is now out. It's an October issue so some spooky adjacent content. I'm a big fan of the cover because I think the original design of The Creature From the Black Lagoon is cool. And now it's traveling through a portal to another dimension and/or timespace. Using 4D technology to go watch an old school 3D movie or something. Anyway, the new Queen City Sounds column is here too and I reviewed more albums than usual for reasons I won't go into but @aplaceforowls @bleakheartband @bloodincantationofficial @ntrncr @david_____castillo @catastrophe_rising @chromalipsband and @_shocker_mom_ . Again it's a privilege to have your work in print and to have your art covered for something that appears in physical media and I try not to take that for granted. Thanks to everyone with and supporting @birdy.magazine and @krystijomei for helping me to read better for these reviews and getting that it's creative writing. I take liberties with the language regularly, I know. Thanks for reading. Support Birdy with a subscription and other ways if you can. My life feels a little up in the air at the moment but when your life is feeling that way it helps to have regular things to keep you anchored or whatever. The world is still in terrible turmoil and so far I can still eat, get medication I need to take care of my chronic health issues and get myself around to see stuff and indulge minor luxuries including picking up records and plenty of other stuff including having a place to live. Not everyone in the USA much less so much of the world has that and I think in the decades ahead we need the will as a civilization to see it through that we have a nurturing and sustainable international order that is built on mutual respect, care and curiosity about an inspirational future for everyone. It's gonna take a lot. I may not live long enough to see that and I'm too regularly a misanthrope due to deep disappointment and struggles but it can't hurt to see how steps can be taken to be in a better world even if it seems miniscule in this moment.

I love you, Tanky! 🧡🧡🧡

So greatful to Matthew, Michi, Michael, James, and the artists that traveled far and wide to assemble at The Tank for the first Long Way gathering. Thank you for inviting me.

This weekend encapsulated everything that matters to me as a creator, and provided a much-needed reset for my confidence and my focus, and a sort of expansion for my road forward.

Stay tuned for some incredible recordings, both of myself and of all my new friends here in Colorado! 🤘

Next up! We've got a killer double bill ft. a presentation of Matt Robidoux's massive ensemble work 'The Spiral Worker' [w. local heavies David Castillo, Emmanuel B Moreno, & Sarah Christiansen comprising said ensemble] & a rare duo set from our own Ritger & Sage.

Hosted by the Clyfford Still Museum as part of their 2026 Summer Music Series, this event is FREE to all...so definitely take this opportunity to take in the museum's current multisensory exhibition, 'Still in Sound,' & enjoy some out sounds courtesy of Denver's finest.
