The @reaganlibrary40 is about to host an exhibition featuring pieces from the wardrobe of the late Diana, Princess of Wales. While I don’t know what outfits will be on display, the news reminded me of some of my own drawings.

While I was just seven when the 1981 royal wedding took place, it was perfectly timed to coincide with my own growing interest in the royal family. I was probably one of the few American kids who begged their parents to be allowed to stay up all night to watch the spectacle.

I well remember collecting every magazine and newspaper I could find, and watching ABC News every night, waiting for the moment when Peter Jennings would appear with his reports from London, hoping the royals would be featured.

Of course, we now know that the ending was anything but happy. But these outfits do remind me of the excitement and enthusiasm millions of people, my seven year old self included, felt in that summer of 1981.

The first image features ornaments based on “the dress” designed by the Emanuels as well as the bouquet and wedding cake.

The next collection shows three day outfits worn by Diana ahead of her wedding, including the sapphire blue engagement outfit.

And, finally, two gowns, including the famous black taffeta off the shoulder dress, and a period costume worn during an early trip to Canada.

Craft and creativity played a key part in this years 119th Royal Windsor Flower Show from floral demonstrations in The Floral Theatre to flower arranging in the central garden with RWFS Ambassador @simonlycett.

Our competitions marquees inspired and the craft tent saw participants of all ages taking part in the @greenskillslibrary, @kerrys_creative_corner and @curiousfair creative activities.

Younger visitors also took part in nature based crafts in the @littlemuddy.boots garden and fungi themed crafts with @busybuttonscorecharity.

Plus there were live basketry and stone carving demonstrations in the Royal Warrant Holder marquee.

Felicitaciones a David Emanuel, el diseñador que creó el icónico vestido de novia de la princesa Diana, por recibir el título de MBE (Miembro de la Orden del Imperio Británico), una distinción otorgada por el rey Carlos III 🎖️

A sus 73 años, Emanuel fue reconocido por su destacada labor con Macmillan Cancer Support, una de las organizaciones benéficas más importantes del Reino Unido dedicadas al apoyo de personas con cáncer.

El diseñador y presentador de Say Yes to the Dress en 🇬🇧 superó un cáncer de próstata hace 12 años y, tras su recuperación, se convirtió en embajador de la fundación, contribuyendo activamente a su causa.

Su nombre quedó grabado en la historia de la moda en 1981, cuando junto a su entonces esposa, Elizabeth Emanuel, diseñó el inolvidable vestido que lució la princesa Diana en su boda con el entonces príncipe de Gales, una creación que los llevó a la fama internacional.

En los encuentros que hemos compartido con él, David Emanuel siempre ha recordado a Diana con enorme cariño, describiéndola como “una mujer extraordinaria, amable y hermosa tanto por fuera como por dentro”.

El MBE es una de las condecoraciones civiles más prestigiosas del Reino Unido y reconoce a personas que han realizado contribuciones sobresalientes en ámbitos como el servicio comunitario, las artes, las ciencias o las obras benéficas.

On Saturday, 8 June, the @royalwindsorflowershow Show took centre stage at the scenic York Club in the heart of @windsorgreatpark . Chaired by @andrewtry, this bespoke family event, brought together by the talented @alexatchelsea and a dedicated team of volunteers and experts with a shared vision, was a wonderful celebration of community spirit. @busybuttonscorecharity once again designed and curated the Children’s Marquee, creating a special place for children’s artwork, gardening and cooking competition entries to be displayed. This year’s theme, ‘Mycelium – The Hidden Threads of Magic’, supported by @knightfrank and @ascotracecourse supports, inspired a wonderful creative learning journey for the many schoolchildren who participated in the Schools Art Competition working with the Busy Buttons team. Children learned about the amazing world of fungi while creating giant mushrooms, while many others submitted beautiful and imaginative competition entries.

The lovely @david_emanuel and @alexjonesthomson had a difficult task judging the entries but did a grand job as always.

What a wonderful atmosphere it was, beginning with the arrival of HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, who attended to inaugurate the beautiful Plants with Purpose Garden, which the Duchess helped co-design with @alanwilliams_design @landformuk

The exhibits were admired not only by visitors but also by some of the most respected names in the horticultural world, including @alantitchmarshcbe , @aritanderson @theoutdoorroom @rosyhardygardening @darran_jaques _jaques @theworkinggarden among many others.

Children delighted in creating ‘Wacky Mushrooms’ with the Busy Buttons team, while our @dofeuk young participants enthusiastically supported the activities. Parents and children also enjoyed the Fungi Trail, discovering incredible facts about mushrooms and the hidden networks beneath our feet.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success. We are already looking forward to doing it all again next year, so save the date: 5 June 2027.

A huge thank you to @guardspoloclub for supporting Dogs for Good by donating the proceeds from their annual dog show.

A brilliant day was had by both two-legged and four-legged guests alike yesterday, and we hope everyone who came along enjoyed it as much as we did.

A special thank you to our wonderful volunteers who attended with the dogs they are currently looking after, Ziggy, Linzi and Teddy, who wore their rosettes with pride and clearly enjoyed the day too! 💚 🐾
