The making of this issue brought us close to two very special special people. The first was photographer David Armstrong, I was such a mad fan of his work. Obsessed with it. We were shocked when his agent replied our naive email inviting him to shoot for the magazine and thrilled when he accepted to do it. These were (and still are) some of the best moments working on the magazine, getting to work with people you admire deeply especially cause at the time we were making the magazine from Helsinki which added an extra challenge, to feel heard and seen from such a far away place.
The second idol of ours who also accepted to be part of this issue was Ann Demeulemeester. We took pictures of her collection at a forest outside Helsinki, and @danthawley (who would do many of our designer profiles for several years) interviewed her in Antwerp.

New York, New Orleans & Provincetown. Those are the 3 magical places that Chi Chi and I have always felt most at home. We haven't been to P-Town in a few years and when I was asked to play the After-Parade Party at The Gifford House for Carnival I jumped at the chance.

To get in the mood I pulled out the incredible photo book "Double Life" by David Armstrong & Nan Goldin. It was a lot seeing the old friends, so many are gone now. Cookie, Sharon, Gennaro, Rene... David Armstrong himself, all gone. David and I used to work there as busboys for the summer.

We are really excited to see our P-Town family again. Carnival is a great time there and The Gifford House is legendary. The theme this year is "Deep Sea Disco" and I am shaking the clams and lobsters out of my headphones and getting pumped!
