When I think of Awaken Retreat, my heart truly explodes with love for the people, for the experience we lived, for how we opened our hearts to awaken the inner light to guides our path.

Having created this retreat with my best friend @michellecg as a collab between @flowstate.collectivee & @soulfull.gatherings was the most beautiful experience.

when I was 16 I moved from Honduras to Houston and made friends at my new high school. when we went off to college, a lot of those friends went to University of Texas, and every time I visited them I fell more in love with Austin. so when I graduated from University of Florida, I moved to ATX as soon as I could, and eventually that led to me being involved in @sxsw, a week-long music/tech/film festival that takes place across the entire city. that is why i’m here today.. because i spoke to @whatthe_mel in Spanish class in 2014.

it’s so crazy to retrace back your steps to see the ripple effects of your actions, and i’m so glad mine led me to work this incredible festival in this incredible town. Southby, you were more magical than ever this year. feel like i lived 7 lives in 7 days. thank you to all the coworkers, speakers, mentors, friends and artists (and friends who are also artists) that made it so freakin fun. can’t wait to stand in front of that hella jarring yet hella iconic yellow backdrop again next year. 💛↙️

P.S. slide #3 is extra special because “Sleep on the Floor” was my go-to song when I was moving to Austin, and I finally got to hear it live for the first time… in Austin.
