An actor walks down the sidewalk and a stranger stops them to quote a favorite line. It happens all the time.

Walking the other way on the same sidewalk, past that same fan, is the person who wrote the line. Nobody stops them.

That gap is why we started Storytelling360.

We do stop them on the sidewalk, with conversations about craft and career.

And that part, we bring to you.

In sixteen months we’ve put eighty-five storytellers on stages in Los Angeles, New York and London at the Writers Guild Theater, Directors Guild Theater and British Film Institute.

None of these people claim to offer a secret sauce in a book or course, they are the actual minds behind the stories we all know so well. Their insights can inform and inspire you.

We’re starting where we started — our first State of the Story Conference on June 8, 2025 at the Writers Guild Theater. Eric Roth (Oscar Winner, Forrest Gump), Marta Kauffman (Co-Creator, Friends) and a dozen more across four conversations.

Her Long Kiss Goodnight-inspired spec RUBY landed on @theblcklst in 2020 and sold to @amazonmgmstudios and 87North (David Leitch, Kelly McCormick, Annie Marter producing). It wasn’t her first sale, either… sci-fi specs Envoy and Genus had already gone to Amy Pascal’s Pascal Pictures.

A MUST LISTEN: Producer SCOTT GLASSGOLD (12:01 Films) talks to The Town’s Matt Belloni in an insightful conversation exploring Hollywood’s rapidly expanding Short Story IP Boom, which Scott and Verve have undeniably led the charge on.

In the interview, Scott discusses why internet-born storytelling has evolved from a passing trend into a true market shift, creating opportunities for new voices and entirely new franchises.

He also shares the story behind SIREN HEAD, announced last week after Warner Bros. Pictures prevailed in a five-studio, multi-million-dollar bidding war for the rights to Trevor Henderson’s viral horror phenomenon. The package pairs “Weapons” filmmaker Zach Cregger and writer/director Brian Duffield, with Scott producing alongside Cregger, Roy Lee, Andrew Childs of Vertigo Entertainment and Duffield via Jurassic Party Productions.

Today Switchboard Magazine signed a first-look deal with Hulu for our nonfiction work. Hulu gets the first opportunity to develop documentary features, series, and unscripted projects from our stories.

When we started Switchboard a little over a year ago, the writers and filmmakers we most admired were exhausted. Tired of being cut out of their own projects. Tired of watching real reporting disappear. Tired of the lie that you have to pick a lane: journalism or film, mission or business, doing good or doing well.

We never bought it. We still don’t.

This company has been, at every level, a bet on people. A reporter who wouldn’t let a story go. A director who could see something the rest of us couldn’t. An editor who fought for a piece they believed in. We bet on them. They delivered. They are the entire reason today happened.

So thank you. To the Switchboard team. To every writer and filmmaker who took a meeting with us when all we could offer was passion and an increasingly desperate argument for why starting a magazine in 2025 was a good idea. And to the team at Hulu, who have been some of our biggest supporters since day one.

We are making lots of things you are going to want to watch (more on that soon!!) and we can’t wait to make even more with Hulu!
