What’s crazier: hosting an outdoor games party in the rain or grown adults actually showing up to play in the rain? 😆 From getting hit in the face with a dodge ball, to slipping and sliding in wet grass trying to get to the safe zone in capture the flag, to tossing water balloons while already being soaked, it was such a fun way to close out my 20s and I can’t thank everyone enough from the bottom of my heart for being there for it. ❤️

p.s. go Team Yellow forever!! (aka winnerzzz 🏆) great job to Team Blue though it was truly neck and neck.

I was honestly this close to canceling the party when I first learned about the rain. Of all the days that LA could rain, it had to be the 1 day I planned on throwing a bday party after so long. It was either reschedule last minute and pray people show up, or compromise on the theme I really wanted to do and go the normal indoor party route. I’m thankful to @theperiwinkler for being such a great sounding board and helping me see a 3rd solution, which is holding it rain or shine because maybe getting wet is not the worst thing in the world after all. It might just add to the experience!

One big thing I’ve taken away from my 20s is learning to be ok when things don’t go perfectly to plan, and accepting that despite how organized/planned/detail-oriented I am, I can also be someone who can get their passport & backpack stolen/lost abroad (twice now 🙃) and that is okay because nobody is perfect. I’m grateful to have such a wonderful partner in @ryho.dp who has been a punching bag for my lowest moments but also the one who helped me evolve and grow in this crazy journey called life 🤪 To many more fun and hopefully still some childish years ahead!

I am overflowing with gratitude to finally share this project in its full and final form.

Being accepted as a participant in the Alliance of Women Directors’ 24/25 Directing the Actor Lab was truly a game changer for me. As an overeager student soaking up every moment of class, to say I looked forward to learning from the esteemed Jennifer Warren and being pushed towards growth by my talented classmates every month, is a gross understatement.

It wasn’t school, it was church. Full of community, connection, and spiritual growth.

All that to say, thank you AWD for taking a chance on me and inviting me to learn and grow through your guidance. I am deeply inspired by your encouragement and support to continue this work I love so very much.

And a huge thank you to my phenomenal cast, Emily and Lee, who were truly a joy to collaborate with in every way. You’ll be seeing more of them, for that I am certain 💫

And finally, thank you to my amazingly talented and generous crew who are the only reason this project got off the ground and looks and sounds the way it does. You guys make me look good. Thank you endlessly for that ❤️

I’m a big fan of a team sport. The mixture of misfits that unsuspectingly form into family through a shared cause, dream, or goal – is something unlike any other. It’s a kind of bond that is, at its best, unshakable. Empowering. Inspiring. Joyful.

Filmmaking is my favorite sport.

As someone who’s owned their fair share of spikes and cleats, I can honestly say that being on a film set requires the same level of focus - precision - and talent it does to bring home the W as the upset in a rival game. From the moment you step foot on set it’s an uphill battle. Everything that can WILL go wrong. You’re constantly pivoting, reworking your gameplan, and coming together to find creative solutions to problems you could have never anticipated. At the end of the project you walk away knowing you gave it your all and left everything on the field. And all those half empty water bottles scattered about? They prove it.

I live for this kind of collaboration. And my heart is deeply happy whenever I’m in a position to bring a spattering of my favorite people together to form a dream team.

This project was made up of that kind of team.

I get emotional thinking about these talented humans and how they *really* showed up for me in the making of my AWD Directing Lab project. Words cannot properly express my gratitude – I am spoiled by their support and in awe of their awesomely creative brains.

To my team: Thank you for believing in me and trusting me to captain this project. Whether this was our first or fifteenth together: it was an absolute joy, and I look forward to the next one!

To everyone else: HIRE THEM. You’ll be glad you did.

A special shoutout to Steve Cachero – close friend and deliciously talented DP – who I’ve been dreaming of collaborating with for what feels like forever. Thank you for all you brought to this project. I’m so glad we finally got to play.
