Quirky-Shakespeare-fact-Thursday!! (Is this a thing? Let’s make this a thing 😄)

When actor Augustine Phillips of Shakespeare’s company died in 1605, he left a bass viol, cittern, bandora and lute to two of his apprentices. His will also names Shakespeare as his “fellow”… amazing tangible evidence of music-making within the theatrical company itself.¹

For @shakespearesouth’s Botanica Lumina: Twelfth Night, the PHENOMENAL @themichaelaburger composed and performed five original songs on the dulcimer as Feste… and @daviddaradan showed us why Sir Andrew claims to have a “back-trick simply as strong as any man in Illyria” (1.5.119–20) 😂

What a joy to continue the circulation and reinvention of Shakespeare’s music ❤️
