Hollywood in Iraq 🇮🇶

American filmmakers and directors Bryn Mooser and David Darg embarked on an 8-day tour exploring ancient Mesopotamian sites, historic Baghdad, the holy shrines of Karbala, Samarra’s spiral minaret, and the marshes of southern Iraq.

Love Iraq. Beautiful country, beautiful people. Felt safe and welcomed from the moment I arrived. Some shots from the Abbasid Palace, Old Baghdad, Samarra, the Mesopotamian Marshes, and Saddam’s Palace in Babylon. Thank you @roamiraq for showing us such an incredible time.

On the road to Northern Iraq are the incredible spiral minarets of Samarra, built 1,000 years ago. They stood outside what was the largest mosque in the world for 400 years.

In the incredible Mesopotamian Marshes of Southern Iraq. The place where the Garden of Eden story was based. Beautiful people in a beautiful land. #iraq #mesopotâmia #marshesofiraq

In Uruk, Iraq. The birthplace of civilization. Where writing was born as well as the clock, the calendar and the wheel. 6,000 years ago this was the biggest and first city in the world. The Ziggurat behind me is a pyramid that was the tallest man-made structure. It remained the tallest for 500 years until the first pyramid in Egypt was built. It’s also the birthplace and final resting place of Gilgamesh. Powerful place. I spent most of my time searching for the stargate buried in a chamber underneath. #uruk #mesopotamia #iraq #stargate
