Rocky Road Records Present… Respect The Connected. Released in 2004 by Rocky Road Records. Factory sealed.

Respect The Connected is an independent compilation released by Rocko’s Rocky Road Records imprint. The album primarily features Montana (Rocko), Dro (Young Dro), Hitman Sammy Sam, & Shun Doe. Also featured is Bone Crusher, Jazze Pha, Bun B, Turk, Juve, Mia X, & Cartier Boys.

This album was released before Rocko’s major-label breakthrough, and very little documentation exists online. Like many street CDs from the early 2000s, copies were often sold out of trunks, barbershops, flea markets, and local record stores rather than through national distributors.

Rocko founded Rocky Road Records after he left Triple A Records working as a talent agent and before his deal with So So Def/Island/Def Jam. Rocko established Rocky Road around 2002–2003 and began developing artists such as Young Dro & Dem Franchize Boyz. He began recording his own music later in 2003, eventually signing a major deal with Def Jam to release his 2008 debut album, Self Made.

Instead of presenting himself as a solo artist, Rocko was trying to establish Rocky Road Records as a movement. During this period he was primarily viewed in Atlanta as an executive, talent scout, street promoter, label owner
rather than a rapper. Rocko bought Dro (Young Dro) out of his recording contract with Raheem The Dream for $10,000 and then signed him to Rocky Road.

Among Atlanta hip-hop collectors, this CD is significant because it predates nearly everything most fans know about Rocko.
