Starting the week off with your host, David Markwei. David is a multi-talented, self-driven, and humble leader, enthusiastic about life with a zeal for excellence and a heart for compassion.

_______

He is a poet, dancer, soccer player and a musician. Born and raised in the heart of Ghana in West Africa, David is the 3rd born out of 4 siblings from two loving parents Rev Dr Ebenezer Markwei & Rev Dr Mrs. Davina Markwei who are public figures in Ghana. Having role model parents who did exceedingly well to paint a picture of love at home and love for other people, has helped shaped him into the man he is now and the man he strives to be for the future.

_______

He is a current candidate for the Master of Management program at the Schulich School of Business at York University, ready to explore the different outlets of opportunity life throws his way.

 _______

With a Bachelors of Honors in Business & Society from York University, David was an active member within the York community leaving his footprint wherever he found himself. From being the lead dancer & choreographer with the Ghanaian Students Association, participating and winning numerous competitions and other events, to becoming the Director of Finance for the Vanier College student council in the 2018/2019 academic year and finally being the first Black African international student to become the Orientation Chair (O-Chair)/Vice-President of Social-Cultural Affairs for Vanier College during the 2019/2020 academic year. As a result of his hard work as O-chair, he became a recipient of the President’s Community Safety Leadership Award.

 _______

A piece of advice to the younger generation that David wishes to tell them is that “take your time, don’t lose hope even when the road ahead isn’t clear and let your ambitions carry you”.
