Quat Coffee & LoQuat has easily become my favorite coffee roaster, brand, and shop in Los Angeles. Every time I visit, I leave inspired. From the branding and atmosphere to the way the coffee is approached, everything feels intentional and dialed in. It’s the kind of place that makes you appreciate how technical and creative coffee can really be. The cortado is still one of my favorites. The espresso comes through with great clarity and sweetness, while the milk is textured with a tight, glossy microfoam that integrates perfectly with the shot. The ratio is balanced enough to soften the acidity and add body without masking the origin characteristics or flavor structure of the espresso. Lately, life has also reminded me how important it is to stay curious and keep chasing the things that genuinely inspire you. Sometimes you walk into a place for a cup of coffee and leave thinking a little differently about where you’re headed, what you want to learn, and the kind of life you want to build. Quat and LoQuat continue to push my interest in coffee deeper and remind me that there’s always another level to the craft. Our Roasters and Production Team Each lot of green coffee we received is stored in a climate-controlled room, then analyzed- moisture, density, water activity- before sample roasting and cupping. From these findings, we design each roasting profile to cast the coffee’s most attractive points. Following the arrival of the new crop, our roasters have spent the past week recalibrating. We held our first production cupping of these coffees, with strong results. The new crops will begin appearing at our bars and shelves within the week. Photo: @b.forbrand

Fellowship while hair falls on the floor. • • It’s crazy how David and I came to be brothers. We have so many mutual homies in the skate scene, but never met each other until I started going to church 2 years ago. It’s amazing how the Lord saves certain relationships until you’re in the right season for them. Dude makes insanely good coffee while also finding time to still shred and the occasional fly fishing. So if you ever need a coffee cart for an event or just want to buy some for the crib, make sure to go follow @newhomecoffee !

To all my friends in Minneapolis, WE’RE COMIN BACK! It was a difficult decision to part ways with our home in LA. Looking back, it’s easy to see that I fell in love with California. The lifelong friendships, the mountains, the camping, the skating, the snowboarding, the beaches, and all the incredible jobs I’ve had the pleasure to be a part of will be tough to walk away from, but Kirsty and I have decided to make the journey back to the homeland to be closer to our roots. Starting in 2026, we’ll once again be Minnesota locals, so hit me up for your Moco and camera assistant needs! And to my LA friends, there’s still a good chance we’ll work or hang together in the future. It’s easy enough for me to fly back. We’re looking forward to this new chapter of our lives and are excited to be back home!
