Meet Our 15 Finalists

The Selection Committee for the Rhodes Scholarships for West Africa recently concluded their review of all 3,214 applications submitted for our Two 2023 Rhodes Scholarships.

Of this number, 133 applications were found qualified to proceed for consideration having met ALL the Eligibility Criteria indicated in the Information for Candidates – West Africa available on our website - www.rhodeshouse.ox.ac.uk.

Our Selection Committee then conducted their initial reviews of the 133 applications and very
quickly whittled them down to 60 Longlisted candidates. The Committee then further debated the 60 candidates and came up with a Shortlist of 20 candidates.

The 20 Shortlisted candidates were then
all interviewed virtually following which the Committee arrived at 15 Finalists for our final round selection process.

This year, our Finalists Weekend will take place in Lagos between 2nd - 3rd December. The Finalists will get to meet our Selectors socially in person for drinks and dinner on Friday 2nd December. On Saturday, each Finalist will have a 20 minute interview with our Committee following which our Two Rhodes Scholars will be chosen.

Stay tuned for the announcement of our two 2023 Rhodes Scholars from West Africa by this time next week.
