DOK.fest: The B-side ✌️

A few extra moments from a brilliant week in Munich, where I was taking part in Documentary Campus during DOK.fest München.

Bowie saw me off as I left London late one evening...

Between the pitches, panels and premieres, I found myself pulled towards the city: the Eisbach wave, galleries, modern design, strange architecture, public art, possibly imprisoned sentient machines, very on-theme for my project, and a famous hog-hunting scene in the middle of Munich.

The work is in the room, but it’s also in the wandering. Staying curious, learning new things, and letting it all find its way back into the process.

And, of course, more beers 🍻

5 pairs of tickets to give away:
As some of you may know, Made For Humans (Digital21 and Stefan Olsdal) recently composed the soundtrack to the film ‘Garbo Where Did You Go?’. It’s a documentary exploring the life of the actor GretaGarbo and what happened when
she suddenly stopped acting at the peak of her career.
We were honoured to be asked and loved the challenge. To celebrate its release,
there is a screening next Monday 23rd June in London followed by a Q+A with the
director Lorna Tucker and the band.

As luck has it, there are 5 pairs of tickets to give away, including a signed cd of
Made For Humans’ first album.
To enter, follow us on our instagram accounts ( @digital21 @stefanolsdal
@placeboworld ) and comment on this post telling us which special person you’d
love to bring to the screening — and why!

The 5 winners will be announced tomorrow night on our Instagram stories.

Much
Love,
Digital 21 and Stefan

“Doppelgängers³ is a visual and sonic experience on diasporic and ecofeminist futures in space at a critical time when the UK Supreme Court rules against trans inclusion and when billionaires race to colonise space enforcing oppressive and reactionary narratives, Doppelgängers³ inform resistances and confronts ideas of extraction, colonization and profiteering that have wrought so much damage on Earth—it urges a reconsideration of our futures through a lens that centers inclusivity, queer, and transnational thinking” says Nelly about the release. 🌈

To the memory of Greta ❤️

We hope you like it. (Now in theaters in Sweden... Those of you who want to see it, scream!)

—

Here is the text we posted on the day of the release in theaters in Sweden:

#MadeForHumans, aka @Digital21 + @stefanolsdal , were invited a few months ago to compose and record the entire soundtrack for Lorna Tucker’s film about #GretaGarbo: ‘Greta Garbo, Where Did You Go?’

It has been both an honour and a pleasure for us to create the soundtrack for a film about such an iconic star of the silent and early sound cinema era. We can’t wait for the global release to share it with you all! In the meantime, if you’re in Sweden, you can watch it (and hear it!) in cinemas now. We had the privilege of watching it at the Capitol cinema in Stockholm this week, and also at the Stockholm Film Festival last November.

We’d like to especially thank the director, Lorna Tucker (it was such a pleasure working day after day with you and your amazing team, including David, Matt, Sophie, and others), as well as the companies Embankment Films, Mylla Films, and Nonstop Entertainment. Thank you all for your kind and emotional words upon receiving our music.

And a very special thanks to Adam, Jonny, and the entire crew at SO Recordings and Silva Screen for trusting us with our last album and also with this project.

Also, a huge thank you goes out to everyone involved in the making of this film. While we’d love to mention every single person, here are just some of the amazing individuals and teams we’d like to acknowledge (including those we’ve yet to meet in person):
