At the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, RMZ Foundation supported Hylozoic/Desires (Himali Singh Soin & David Soin Tappeser) to Venice, presented as part of In Minor Keys, curated by Koyo Kouoh. The installation explores connections between the Indian subcontinent and Antarctica. We Are Ours at Hotel Metropole further explored these ideas through readings and conversations.

The presentation reflects the RMZ Foundation’s continued support for research-led artistic practices in international contemporary art. The Foundation supported Mountain, Pixelated in the Water (2021) and Subcontinentment (2020), with Avtar Foundation for the Arts (@avtarfoundation) and Fondazione Henraux (@fondazionehenraux).

Bb’s first artist residency. Challenging for this bougie city gyal on multiple levels but also rewarding—we planted a tree! So thankful to have been in a cohort with these lovely souls, most especially @imransiddiquee. Thank you @megsmegsmegs and @laceycarena et al for a transformative experience @dennistonhill 🍁

What made my last trip in Ladakh special: @sabiennale 2026 Signals From Another Star.
Unfortunately I didn’t have the opportunity to reach Kargil, but I’m sure it would have been worth it!

Salt Lines at the Jaipur Centre for Art concluded on 9 August with a walkthrough led by artist duo, Hylozoic/Desires (Himali Singh Soin and David Soin Tappeser).

The artists reflected on the research journeys, archival encounters, and filming processes that informed the exhibition, tracing the histories and speculative worlds summoned by its photographic, sonic, textile, and moving-image works.

Across these works, Salt Lines revisited the lost archive of the Inland Customs Line and the deeds, divisions and divinations that continue to reverberate in the present.

Presented by Jaipur Centre for Art in collaboration with RMZ Foundation.

Signals from Another Star comes to an end ✨

After a month of 𝘀ā 𝗟𝗮𝗱𝗮𝗸𝗵 𝗕𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗲, Signals from Another Star draws to a close. Across Ladakh’s extraordinary landscape, artists, communities and visitors from around the world came together through art, conversation and shared experiences.

A fitting end to a month shaped by journeys across landscapes, new encounters and unexpected discoveries — and one we won’t forget anytime soon.

We’d like to congratulate the team @jammyexplores @rakiography @sagarsinghcreates @vishalkdar @tseringmotup6

Repost from @thirdspace_podcast -

“…..As @sabiennale just commenced, we keep thinking about what stayed with us.

It wasn’t only where we encountered the art, but who was making it and where it was coming from.

Across different venues, contemporary practices sat alongside works created by local communities…...drawing from traditional knowledge, familiar materials, memory and sometimes simply what came instinctively to heart and mind.

There was an honesty to that which was difficult to miss.

No need to fit within a particular vocabulary of art. No separation between tradition and the contemporary. Just people responding to their place, their lives and what they knew.

Perhaps that is what made these venues feel so different.

The landscape wasn’t a backdrop.
The local community wasn’t an audience.
Tradition wasn’t something being referenced from a distance.

They were all part of the making.
For @thirdspace_podcast, sā raised an interesting thought:

When we take art outside the conventional gallery, perhaps we’re not only changing where art is experienced. We also begin to question who gets to make it, what we choose to call art, and whose stories find a place within that conversation.

Sometimes the most affecting work doesn’t need to announce itself as art.

It just needs to feel true….”

What happens when you place art directly into the unforgiving geography of the Himalayas, over 3,000 meters above sea level? Preparing to close in the final days of August, the sā Ladakh Biennale strips art of its status as an object that dominates nature, transforming it instead into a transient interface that converses with the memory of the Earth.

Here, indigenous knowledge is not displayed as a nostalgic relic, but as an active, flawlessly functioning ecological algorithm for survival. Defying the hubris of permanence, these artworks are not built to last forever. They are designed to weather, fragment, and eventually surrender to the wind and the soil (sā).

On this threshold where we confront ecological collapse, one must wonder: When will we stop viewing nature merely as a passive landscape to be observed, and realize that the Earth itself is the greatest, most fragile, and most vital masterpiece?

3000 Realms. Our second "posting" in Ladakh for @sabiennale was at the scenic spot of Nurla Bridge. Here we were introduced to the eccentric world of @himalisinghsoin and @davidsointappeser who decided to take on the mammoth challenge of assembling 3000 handmade bells to be fixed onto the suspension bridge at Nurla over the rushing Indus River.
.
The bridge crosses over the river at a point where it merges into multiple mountain streams and there's an existing cacophony and roaring of the rapids that constantly remind you of the presence of the mighty river.
.
As we worked on, drilling, tying and cutting on repeat, we became a part of this family that sang, danced, laughed and loved what we did. After we pulled off the task in 2 days, sitting in the middle of the gently swaying bridge over the river at midnight, we sat listening to the bells ringing along with the rushing river, the regular world of my daily life felt so far away and it was just the river, the mountains and the threads of sound we wove on nature's existing symphony.
