04/22/2008 The Shelter - Detroit, MI (1/3)

Fireworks @fireworksmi
The Weakend
MXPX

This was my first time ever going to the shelter. When this show was announced, 19 year old me was shocked I’d get to see MXPX in a small room with our locals opening up for them.

1. X's on Trees (featuring my favorite line of all time)
2. I Am the Challenger (featuring @chrismojan feeding @davidthepest cake)
3. Wild Bunch (featuring @davidthepest managing to keep his hat on whilst crowdsurfing/singing)

(Part 2): Last night was very special. Because of COVID, adulting, and life in general, it’d been 6 years since I’ve gone to a show (3/11/2020) and lost my shit to a band I love. I’m so grateful that it was @fireworksmi. Tbh I wasn’t sure if I’d ever get to see them again, but sometimes things work out. Fifteen years of Gospel. Getting to give @davidthepest a hug and tell him how much this band means to me. Reuniting the Tumblr era concert hangs with @monicat.meowvez. It was perfect.
