Opening reception 6-9PM with a 𝓅𝑒𝓇𝒻𝑜𝓇𝓂𝒶𝓃𝒸𝑒 𝒾𝓃 𝓉𝓌𝑜 𝓅𝒶𝓇𝓉𝓈 beginning at 7pm.

𝓅𝒶𝓇𝓉 𝐼 𝙈𝙞𝙡𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙩, a basketball ballet by Margaret Crowley. Score by Zander Raymond.

𝓅𝒶𝓇𝓉 𝐼𝐼 𝙊𝙣 𝙁𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙩 𝙑, a performance by Eli Greene. Cello by Dorothy Carlos.

The past few months have been like a dream…

From Gil Heron Scott's WINTER IN AMERICA:

"At the end of 360 degrees, Winter is a metaphor: a term not only used to describe the season of ice, but the period of our lives through which we are traveling. In our hearts we feel that spring is just around the corner: a spring of brotherhood and united spirits among people of color. Everyone is moving, searching. There is a restlessness within our souls that keeps us questioning, discovering and struggling against a system that will not allow us space and time for fresh expression. Western iceman have attempted to distort time. "

As we glimpse sure signs of life, start seeds for our community garden, and begin the second year of planting for @howtoperformanabortion's Abortion Herb Garden, we feel the certainty of spring at Denniston Hill.

And we simultaneously feel the immediate and ongoing violences of the state: the racist questioning of Ketanji Brown Jackson, the continual degradation of voting rights, bodily autonomy, and other human rights; and the foundational myth of the American justice system.

Continuing to question, discover, and struggle against the systems that bind us is more essential now than ever. In this global springtime, we are grateful to (finally!) share long-awaited, vital performances by our 2020-2022 DPAA awardees, and we look forward to the return of life.
