Check out our mural wall done by local artist David Reynaud! He painted both the Albo and Thai Constellation monsteras with so much realistic detail in the leaves and it’s even more beautiful in person😍🥹 #muralart #lilylaneplantco #localartists #shopsmall #abilenetx

Last night for our anniversary, Danny spent quality time with me! 🎨💘 He knows how much I’m falling in love with art, so he planned something special.

We started with a dinner with our girls (who, of course, are the best part of every day), but the real surprise came after, we walked into an art class Center for Contemporary Arts where they set up a model and sessions: some were one minute, some five minutes, 15 minutes, giving us time to sketch and explore our creativity. 🎨✨

I’ve never taken an art class (other than photography), so this was a first for me! But Danny knows I was starting to fall in love with it, so he made sure to create an opportunity for me to dive in. I cant even explain what happened in my soul. 😭

To make it even more magical, we told the class it was our anniversary, and they got so excited! We ended up modeling for 18 minutes, one for every year we’ve been together.

It was such a fun experience! The mix of vulnerability, laughter, and connection was perfect.

Here’s to 18 years of art, love, and memories with my forever muse. 🫶

What a wonderful, bewildering, magical experience it is to have your writing published. To hold a book in your hands and to know that it came from your soul, your experiences, and from the people who believed in you. Thank you @1319press and @ladypoachedegg for giving “The Beholden” the honor of being published among your inaugural collection of talented and whip-smart authors. And thank you to @davidwaynecreates for the beautiful cover art!

This play is incredibly special to me. I was inspired by @kristenkorvette ‘s “Witches, Sluts, Feminists,” Mona Chollet’s “In Defense of Witches,” and Barbara Ehrenreich and Deirdre English’s “Witches Midwives & Nurses,” to create a play which melded the male perspective audiences are accustomed to viewing art through with a distinctly feminine lens. When I first began writing, I wondered, how would a witch hunt manifest in the modern age? What would happen if the hunters tried to burn a real witch? Those questions gave way to the intelligent, determined, resilient characters who drive the play. Unquestionably, these characters are inspired by the women in my life who have shaped me, taught me, and protected me. I wrote this play about women, for women, and with a presumed feminine viewer. I hope that it inspires those who read it to connect with the parts of themselves that are stubborn, fiery, and powerful.

Creation is a spell. Artists are witches. Let your will breathe life into the world. 🔮
