faffing about in my 5 to 9

How lucky am I to have finished the @vermont100mile and still feel disappointed?

At 22 years old, I have joined a small percentage of humans who have run 100 miles, and I will never take that for granted. Before the start, I promised myself that I would fight for the win as deep into the race as I could. This summer showed me I have the potential to win a race like this someday, but the result showed me I still have much more to learn in this sport, and that’s okay.

At the 33 mile mark, I was at the front of the race on par with course record pace, and felt incredible. At the 40 mile mark, I could barely walk. This was my first time racing more than a 50K, and I paid the price! I made many mistakes, but in my eyes the biggest factor was inexperience. Once I ran past 33 miles, I was in unknown territory, and I didn’t know how to respond to the pain. Going forward, I plan to race a few 50 milers or 100Ks to build durability at those distances before I take another shot at 100 miles, and my bar will be set just as high.

The amazing thing about 100 mile races is that even if your “A” goal is no longer possible, just crossing the finish line is the accomplishment of a lifetime - and I’m proud that I never forgot that. I suffered through a 60 mile death march where every step sent pain shooting through my legs for 19 hours straight, and thoughts of my family, friends, and all who supported me kept me moving the whole way home. So many of you sent me messages of well-wishes beforehand and it felt like I was being carried by the love of every single person in my life. It meant the world!

It was an honor to follow in the footsteps of my dad (who has completed the Vermont 100K) and finish the race while supporting @vermontadaptive . Many times during the final hours, I reminded myself that the ability to suffer in a 100 mile race is a privilege, and I’m so glad I was able to support an organization that makes sport more accessible to everyone. With your help, I was able to raise a total of $4355. Thank you!!!

Running is all I have ever wanted and will ever want to do with my life, and this weekend confirmed that. Off to Colorado to find my next adventure!

For a kid who just wanted his name called out one time on a livestream, becoming a regular broadcaster for @nhxctf has been a dream come true. I still can’t believe the opportunities I’ve had and the people I’ve met because of this silly little website, and I will never take it for granted. There’s no place like home, no community like NHXCTF, and that’s why saying goodbye is so hard.

Swipe through for some of my finest and funniest moments during my time as a commentator and athlete. Boy did I have a lot of fun!

Excited to take the win at my mountain racing debut at @kismetcliffrun this weekend! I ran 2:04:40 and ended up 4th on the all time list with some great company. Thanks @tomhooper603 @six03endurance for putting on a fantastic event!
