We had to kiss the manager for the perfectly crispy, buttery layers of this croissant 💋

We made it to 13k followers?! Hi new people! It’s been a while since we introduced ourselves, so here’s the long and short—

Back in 2018 I started baking funny colored sourdough using fresh milled flour out my kitchen/home made wood fired oven. Just a few loaves at a time for friends, family, coworkers, and eventually a few strangers at the farmers market. Then a few more strangers at Erewhon, more farmers markets, and more neighbors.

From baking at home, to a tiny kitchen behind a gas station
through COVID and a handful of other challenges
to here. Our very own bakery in Mar Vista almost 8 years later.

It’s been a wild journey, to say the least. Along the way we’ve built an incredible team and family, and found community in so many amazing neighborhoods across LA—whether that’s at your local farmers market or a favorite eatery serving our bread.

I feel incredibly lucky to be here sharing this loaf with you. We’re a family-owned and operated business that has grown entirely because of your support. I mean, I met my wife at the farmers market. Now we have a kid who runs around the same market snacking on our favorite farmers’ produce. It’s the best thing ever. We haven’t taken on loans, outside investment, or other capital, and we’re really proud of that (even though it’s really, really hard).

We are no bigger or smaller than how you choose to spend your dollar.

Thank you for taking us this far. I can’t wait to see where we go next (you tell us).

Big loaf 💙

What a year. Going through all of the photos to include in this post was a flash of memories. We’ve accomplished so much, all of which I would’ve never been able to do alone, most of which I can’t believe is real, and only a few I ever thought were possible.

It’s really wild to think that what we’ve built all started in my parent’s garage. Thanks to everyone who picked up bread in Studio City, to the people who buy our products every week at their local farmers market, everyone who purchases at Erewhon (that’s why we’re still the no 1 selling bread đŸ€Ż) and now in 2025, thank you to all of you who have chosen to make Häsi Bread their local coffee shop and bakery đŸ„č. We are so lucky and grateful to each and everyone of you.

Opening the bakery. It feels like a dream and the days are all blurred. Long days, late nights, early mornings, things breaking, things working, systems failing and people saving the day. I still can’t believe we’re here.

Through all the chaos
stress/lack of sleep/not eating/general insanity
we’re creating the space of our dreams. Slowly but surely.
It’s our home. When you walk in you’ll feel what I mean. And i don’t think you’ll find it anywhere else.

It really is “the family business”. I’m so proud to have my boy running in the bakery
tasting our breads and pastries, learning about the grains we mill, meeting our customers, helping sweep flour off the floors. My wife thinking in all the ways I don’t. Our HÄSI team members taking on new responsibilities.

Thank you to everyone who’s walked through our doors already during our soft opening. It means the world 💛 I can’t wait to share more with you.
