I want a house that feels like a home, one filled with character made from little hands and feet. My home will never be completely spotless, but it will be filled with love and memories.💛 #housetoahome

A simple tip that would have saved us a lot of trips up and down the stairs in our last home where we did not have any outlets in our upstairs closets. This time we made sure to have extra outlets so we could have a separate vacuum that we could charge upstairs. What are some things you would have changed in your home? #buildingtips #newhomeconstruction #customhomebuild

Three years ago we bought 7 acres with hopes to have a farm full of animals and kiddos. One year ago we started building a house and now it’s officially our home.💛🙏🏽 Thankful for our builders and my hubby for working so hard to get where we are. We still have a lot to do, but so happy we can finally start moving in the next couple weeks and make it our home. We are ready not to have to make a two hour trip every time we want to visit our house.😅 #darnellfamilyfarm

Here’s the deal it’s not that we don’t love those trends but we did them in our previous home minus the marble and just wanted to do something new. I am leaning into the warmer tones for color of our kitchen cabinets.

As for the kitchen sink, I never really liked it at our first home we bought. It felt weird having it right in the middle when you are entertaining guests. Plus we have amazing views of our property and I wanted to capture that as much as possible. I loved the idea of doing dishes and watching all the deer walk by.

As for marble, I just didn’t want to deal with the maintenance and plus with little kiddos I didn’t want to chance it. Now days you can find the look of marble but with better durability in other stones like quartz. We did quartz countertops in our previous home and loved how easy it was to clean and maintain.

What are your thoughts on these popular trends? #kitchendesign #kitchendesigntrends

We recently got our custom built ins installed and it’s everything we dreamed it to be. Honestly if there’s one thing I think worth splurging on it’s custom built ins. We love all the extra storage! I can’t wait to show the final look! #darnellhome #darnellfamilyfarm #newhomebuild #customhomebuild

Unlike most homes in the city or in a subdivision we did not have access to city water or sewage since we in the country. So a huge part of our budget went into digging a water well and digging our own septic system. We also had to raise our elevation of our build to get above the flood plain in Texas. The one thing we lucked out on was the previous land owners already had established a pad and paid for the electrical pole to be put out which saved us 50k in our home build. Even though we are spending extra cost to establish our own utilities, it does give us the freedom to live independently from the city which is what we wanted in the first place. So if you are planning to build in the country don’t forget to budget in these factors in your build. #newhomebuildtips #darnellfamilyfarm
