DAWN WATERS BAKER What an extraordinary time it was with this extraordinary artist and human, now a dear friend to many of us. It was such a deep, rich, and moving experience to hear her share about her artwork, her creative journey, and how her experiences in life have made her the artist and Christ-follower that she is. The beauty of her paintings and the beauty of her soul clearly come from the same place: God's presence. Thank you Dawn for sharing so profoundly and vulnerably with us. And thank you for entrusting your work to The Kairos Gallery for the Fall. It is an honor and a blessing and emanates His peace and healing to our community. We can't wait for the videos of your talks at The Kairos Fall Forum to be edited and posted on the Kairos Arts Ministry website so we can watch them again and share them with others. Dawn's exhibit 'To The Lowest Places' will be on display and for sale through Nov 29. To purchase, go to KairosArtsMinistry.com #gallery #art #painting #artandfaith #church

Fallow refers to land that is intentionally left uncultivated for a season. The soil is able to rest, recover, and regain essential nutrients. These periods of stillness are not empty or unproductive, but necessary for renewal. This time also allows for reflection about what has taken root, what has been harvested, and what might emerge next. New growth often begins quietly, in the space between one season and another.

Today, Cosmic Minds Fund was honored to join the @museumofbiblicalartdallas in Dallas for Together We Remember, commemorating the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001. @sc0tt_murray1 amazing emcee! It was a powerful morning of remembrance alongside @ScottPeck, @artistluissottil @jamessurls ,@JeffreyBrosk, @dawnwatersbaker , @georgetobolowsky , @tammanysternpr Stern @philanthropyinstitute, @nathansmithdallas , @christopherwycoco, @sherryowens_sculpture , @sharonkopriva , @byblackshear , @rogerwinterofficial , and photographer @maness6327 , as well as members of our fire and rescue, law enforcement, military, and Dallas community. Twenty-five years later, we remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the first responders and everyday Americans whose courage showed us what service and humanity look like in the most difficult moments. At Cosmic Minds Fund, our mission is centered on children and education. Today was also a reminder of our responsibility to teach the next generation the history that came before them — and the importance of courage, compassion, service, unity, and hope. We remember those we lost. We honor those who served. And we educate the generations who will carry their stories forward. We will never forget. #NeverForget #September11 #TogetherWeRemember #CosmicMindsFund MuseumOfBiblicalArt Dallas Education Philanthropy Community Service FutureGenerations

Our Saturday Kairos Forum Speaker and Kairos Gallery Artist (Opening Sunday) Dawn Waters Baker has this painting of hers featured in a 9/11 Memorial show in Dallas, TX this morning. It is called The Survivor Tree, based on the tree that survived 9/11 at Ground Zero which Dawn had visited. Honored to be included, she will be at the Memorial early this morning and then get on a plane to Charleston for the weekend with us at St. Andrew's - Mt. Pleasant. Please be praying with us for her safe travel. The Survivor Tree Recovery workers found the severely damaged tree in October 2001 amidst the rubble at Ground Zero. It had snapped roots, burned bark, and broken branches, with only one living part remaining. The New York City Department of Parks & Recreation took the 8-foot tree to the Arthur Ross Nursery in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx to nurse it back to health. The tree grew to over 30 feet tall and was replanted on the memorial plaza in December 2010. Visitors can still see the gnarled, scarred old wood where smooth new healthy branches grew out after the tragedy. It is the only tree on the plaza that predates 9/11 from the original World Trade Center site. Every spring, it is the first tree to bloom, representing survival, renewal, and hope. You can register for the free Kairos Forum Saturday morning with Dawn at the FORUM link in our profile.

Kairos Forum Emotional Typography Workshop Saturday Sep 12, 2:00 – 3:00PM In this workshop, Kairos Gallery Artist & Forum Keynote Speaker Dawn Waters Baker will take us through how simple lines can communicate emotions and help us articulate how we feel inside when things feel overwhelming or numb. For teachers, we want to help them “see” how their students bring a range of feelings with them into the classroom and how drawing can be a healthy way to let those feelings out. For artists, it can help crystallize the texture, temperature, and weight of our lines, colors, and forms when bringing emotion to our work. This workshop is free and supplies will be provided 😊 Please register at the FORUM link in our profile. #typography #workshop #finearts #visualarts
