gill got the green light to start treatment, so we know some precautions might be coming our way. we decided to do something out of our norm and take advantage of the time we have, trading football and sunday scaries for a fun date out.

@day.gilly setting a new standard for strength. the strongest person i know.

feels like there’s a new obstacle every day, but despite it all, gill keeps on going.

truly an inspiration to me (& many of her people). got me reflecting and thinking twice before complaining about things. (i will say tho, it’s tough being a chargers fan and potentially watching the dodgers get swept)

life looks a little slower for us these days, and that’s okay. maybe we needed to learn how to slow down and enjoy the little things. i’m just grateful you’re here. grateful you’re alive.

a much-needed weekend with friends.

still so much to love: quality time with my love, the sun, the boy and the bear, kazunori, shopping, wanderlust, and quality time with friends.

a little glimpse at gill doing her part in recovery…

her therapists gave her some exercises/homework. the first exercise is helping her work on her eye movement and vision. the second is helping her work on her memory, processing, and creativity. the last one is helping her practice writing on set lines.

got a front row seat to watching her overcome every obstacle, exercise, and setback thrown her way.

gill wanted movie theatre popcorn (she wouldn’t allow microwaveable popcorn). the closest theatre to home required some walking and a flight of stairs, but no amount of stairs was going to keep her from her popcorn 😤

tbh, yesterday was tough. but nevertheless, i’m thankful to God that gill is my wife. thankful that she is alive. thankful that we can still do life together.

Thankful for my wife / @day.gilly

Gill had to frequently take off her rings for her procedures. Every time she returned to her room, I would propose to her again.

Through this experience, there are a few things I’ve learned/observed/felt:

1. Thankfully, Gill said yes every time I proposed. After everything she’s gone through, seeing her say yes, wanting her rings back, holding her hand up to show them off, and continuing to choose to be my wife has meant so much to me. It reminds me that I am truly loved.
2. She still managed to coordinate a birthday surprise for me ( @malbon ). In the most chaotic and challenging season of our lives, she made sure to get me a gift because she knows how much I love gifts haha.
3. She’s trusted me to bring her home and take care of her. This is uncharted territory for both of us, but her willingness to trust me each day is another way she has chosen to show me love.

A random person who was walking behind us ended up parking right next to us. Before leaving, he went out of his way to encourage us, saying, “Idk what you are recovering from, but you guys are doing a great job.” It made our day.
