i don’t know, i’m just really happy these days

Maybe the most beautiful part of safari is that nothing is promised 🐆

You can drive around for hours following lion tracks and find absolutely nothing. You can stare straight into a bush and somehow miss the leopard lying right there. And then, when you least expect it, you turn a corner and there’s an elephant standing in front of you.

We were lucky enough to see four of the Big Five, but finding the leopard felt especially unreal. He was so perfectly hidden that I was literally looking straight at him and still couldn’t see him until our driver came over and pointed me in exactly the right direction 🫣 Suddenly it made perfect sense how people can spend days in the Mara searching for one without ever getting lucky enough to see him.

More than anything, I kept thinking about how lucky i am just to be there and see them in their own home. I’m so grateful we had a driver who understood that too. He always knew when we were close enough, when to keep our distance and when it was time to move on. There was never a need to get closer just for a better photo if it meant disturbing them. We were visitors in their home, and being able to sit quietly and watch them live their lives felt like a privilege, not something we were entitled to.

And honestly, I loved the hours of searching just as much as the sightings themselves. Following tracks, looking for the smallest movement in the grass, getting excited when our driver suddenly changed direction because he had spotted something, and having absolutely no idea what we would find next. I think not knowing is half the magic🤷🏼‍♀️ Every sighting feels like something you were simply lucky enough to be there for.

This has been a dream of mine for so long, and getting to experience it with my camera in my hands has made me ridiculously happy. I’m still figuring things out as I go, taking way too many pics 😅 and trying to capture even a little bit of what it feels like to actually be here.

And somehow, this is only the beginning ~ 🤎🐘🐆🦒

We started our game drive in the world famous Maasai Mara at 7:30 this morning on the lookout for a Leopard, the last of the Big 5 we needed to see. Our guide kept hearing over the radio that there was a Leopard walking around. Finally, around 2:30pm, a group stopped to tell us about a sighting. Our guide turned the vehicle around and the race was on! Our fantastic guide got us there quickly. He was really happy to have seen the most elusive Big 5 cat. As we were leaving you could see a swarm of vehicles on their way. We were so lucky to be one of the first to arrive meaning we could get close! 🐆

Early this morning we were blessed with Rhinos! 🦏 I love this photo; a group of 3 (one is laying down behind the one standing) with a bunch of giraffes in the background.

We saw a Cheetah and her cubs two days in a row! Such gorgeous animals. Our guide was telling us that Cheetah sightings are rare. I feel so lucky to have spotted them more than once. Huge shout out and thanks to our guide for getting us close enough for these photos!

📍 Samburu National Reserve, Kenya 🇰🇪

When I think of my safari in Samburu, this is one of the first sights I remember! Truly special.

There is no such thing as a “solo founder” in safari.

This first Outer Scene Signature trip was built by hands far steadier and wiser than mine. The guides who read the land like scripture, lodge teams who turn arrival into belonging, drivers, chefs, trackers, security, the quiet architects behind every seamless moment.

Local. Rooted. Invested.

Every time you choose to travel with intention, you choose to support families, communities, and generational knowledge that has existed before us.

To every person who made this first signature safari extraordinary, thank you for trusting my vision and for allowing Outer Scene to grow with you.

This is only the beginning. 🐘🗺️🐆✈️

Amboseli feels sacred. Stark. Vast. Ruled gently by giants. Easily the most adventurous place we’ve traveled.

I have only edited like 2 photos from my trip with @daylight_adventures this year had been so insanely busy I cannot believe it!

Hopefully once the holiday season comes around I’ll have a bit more time up my sleeve!
