I’m trying to leave more room for things I don’t have to be good at. Things that don’t need to become productive, impressive, or useful. Just something I wanted to try. Being a beginner as an adult is weirdly uncomfortable. 😂 I’m working on it. 💛 #ruby #writer #books #parenting #healing

A few days in Maine 💛 Family, friends, ocean views, playgrounds, ice cream, kids climbing and jumping off anything they could find, Penelope getting spoiled, and a lot packed into one very quick weekend. Maine has a way of feeling familiar the second I’m back. The trip was way too short, but I’m really glad we went. Already missing everyone—and definitely wishing we had stayed a little longer. #ruby #writer #books #parenting #healing

Some dates hold meaning before we fully understand why. June, 8 is one of those dates for me, so this felt like the right day to finally explain why I created Ruby. I didn’t create her because I thought I had a great idea for a children’s book. I created her because I was struggling. I could not figure out how to help one of my children regulate big emotions, and while so much attention went in that direction…I slowly watched my daughter become easier and easier. She adjusted quickly. She helped. She stayed calm. She tried to make things easier for everyone else. People praised that. Something in me kept thinking— that is too heavy for a child to carry, so Ruby became the place where I started trying to understand all of it. Not just my children, in me too. This story was never created from expertise. It was created from love, confusion, observation, guilt, growth, and years of asking questions. And somehow… writing Ruby helped me hear myself too. 💛 #ruby #lettersfromruby #childrensbooks #parenting #healing
