POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Our first meeting with Noreen and Bryan was a walk around their newly purchased property. We looked at site elevations and infrastructure, but mostly we talked about how they pictured their family using this place; now and for the next generations.

They wanted a cabin where everyone could gather in every season. Room for the grandchildren. A covered, screened-in deck for summer nights without the mosquitoes. And a build that was environmentally conscious, solid and low maintenance.

Not extravagant. Solid. Nice. Built to last.

The kind of place where you can unlock the door and get on with enjoying lake life.

It’s getting closer to feeling like their place. Flooring is in!

Are you Team ‘Raw Oak’ or Team ‘Matte Black’? This piece proves you don’t actually have to choose. 👇

Doing justice to a forgotten relic. 🔨⛓️

That first shot is the reality of the “before”—heavy, dusty, and overlooked. But I saw the bones. After a serious rehab of stripping, sanding, and second-guessing, she’s finally exonerated.
The contrast of the light-absorbing black against the honest oak grain is exactly the energy this piece deserved from the start. 🕯️🖤

Tell me: When you’re hunting for furniture, do you look at the finish or the ‘bones’ first? ---

I decided to try doing a restoration this spring/summer of an old storage bench that had been sitting in someone's attic for decades. It just jumped out at me from Marketplace, and I felt like it deserved a new life. 💕 The paint was flaking off, there was some water damage, cracks and dents, and the deteriorating canvas lining had a permanent musty smell. I was so lucky to find almost identical fabric serpentine trim for the top edge from Etsy, from the same time period, and managed to save the hand-painted floral detailing, which was pretty much my main hope. 😄 The only wood that needed total replacement were the bottom front and side base pieces, the rest was stripped and sanded and amazingly I found a near perfect paint match at a local store. 💚 I repainted the detail on the faux drawers and base, blended in the original floral details, fixed up the lid on new hinges, and cleaned, sanded, primed, sealed, and papered the interior. I love this little beastie so much, and I hope she has decades more to come. 🥰 #antique #vintage #restoration #midcentury #storagebench #oldies #floral #green

Happy pride month, and a gentle reminder to let people live, accept them for who they are and maybe walk a mile in someone’s shoes before you pass judgement. 🫶 🌈
