"'Fill the jars with water,' Jesus told them. So they filled them to the brim. Then he said to them, 'Now draw some out and take it to the headwaiter.' And they did. When the headmaster tasted the water (after I had become wine), he did not know where it came from—though the servants who had drawn the water knew." -John 2:7-9 CSB

Journaling with Grace & Gratitude Through Reflection:

I was recently discussing with a friend the difference between merely functioning in the flesh and living from a place of secure dwelling in the house of the Lord. There is a distinct contrast between the two. It is through faith, hope, love, practice, and the comfort of God’s presence that we discover true rest, refuge, and strength when we abide in Him.

David’s Psalms often give me moments of pause and wonder. While dwelling can refer to a physical place, its deepest meaning is spiritual in nature. To truly dwell in the presence of the Most High is to walk in acceptance, surrender, and complete reliance upon Him as our eternal covering and source of security.

When we rest in His presence, we find restoration for weary minds and souls. There, we are renewed, strengthened, and refreshed. From that place of divine refuge, we are empowered to step back into the demands of time and space, functioning once again with wholeness, purpose, and peace. In Him, we emerge complete, sustained not by our own strength, but by His abiding grace.

Gratitude Reflection:

Today, I am grateful for the invitation to dwell rather than merely strive, to rest rather than simply perform, and to trust in the covering of God’s presence. It is there that I find the strength to continue, the peace to endure, and the assurance that I am never alone.

I’ve always wanted to contribute to a Bible project, and my friends at DaySpring and Tyndale House Publishers have given me a wonderful opportunity. Last year, I was invited to write an introduction and a series of devotional thoughts to accompany each of the daily readings in the One Year Bible: New Testament for New Beginnings — just released this month!

This special edition was created especially for anyone who needs encouragement, making a fresh start, beginning a new season, or beginning a new life in Christ. It’s beautifully illustrated and includes a special design feature that lets you choose the date of your “DAY ONE” (no need to wait until January ☺️). Take a look! 💗 📖 💗 📖 💗 #oneyearbible #bible #newbeginnings
