POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I haven't been able to do many shoots this year, so this was one for the books!

Some clients book you. Some clients believe in you.

Daysha has been rocking with me since the beginning — encouraging me to take photography seriously, trusting my vision, and continuing to show up in front of my lens year after year. She was my very first client, and I almost put down the camera after struggling with her that night lol, but it made me better!

So this birthday shoot means a little more.

Happy 26th Birthday to one of my favorite people and my most loyal client, and one of the people who helped push me toward the skill I have today. 🥂🖤

Keep shining, birthday girl! This chapter looks GOOD on you.

I remember going to a pawn shop and purchasing my first Canon eos, thinking it would be cake to take pictures. Wasn’t as easy as I thought. But I practiced on my own time, never thinking I’d do it outside of my own little family. I always had an eye though, and @dayy.bee challenged me to shoot her for her birthday. That push opened up a door even I didn’t see for myself. And now, I wouldn’t trade this passion for the world. I thank God for allowing me to do things I’m passionate about because it never feels like work. Here are favorite shots from most of the shoots I’ve done since August of 23 (the first).

Long Post** Tomorrow is my last day at Raines, in the Haven. My goal was always to leave a mark with the people of my community and to like my graduation class motto said, “be the change I wanted to see.” When I first came on, I had the perfect FTO because the thing he showed the most was compassion. Compassion for our people and for that reason, he was respected in the community. That’s something I always strived for. I wanted people to find me online and talk about me and always remember I was that officer that made a positive difference in their life. About five years in I knew I was making an impact individually, but not reaching as far as I needed, so I knew I needed to start training. If I couldn’t find the partners I was searching for, I could mold them, and my teach would be felt even more. Soo I became I trainer and my own training officer reminded me it seems every month that I had a gift in teaching and it was my purpose on this job. I needed his redirection often because many times I felt unappreciated, felt my passion, my efforts were overlooked. He always kept me focused. Over the years, I’ve trained much more than I’ve been by myself and even in the process of training I got the partner I was looking for and a mentor, a brother in my ward partner @badblue88 . He was just like me, just older and made coming to do this job effortless. We trained together, in a tag team manner and almost everyone that went through us, got the most complete training one could imagine on this job. I claim his trainees and he does the same for mine when we were together. I didn’t think I would ever leave Raines until I got promoted, but sometimes God has a way of telling you His plan didn’t align with yours. And now as I prepare to leave, it is bittersweet because I have had an opportunity to help mold so many officers under my tutelage. I am going to miss Raines, and hopefully if I find my way back there in the future, it’ll be in a position that I could really make the difference I always speak of. Until then, it’s been love, it’s been real! From 02 to 04 and I’ll leave my stamp there too!

I have been an artist pretty much my entire life, but with a different medium. Putting my all into and onto paper, but I found myself at a crossroad when my son was born. Unable to find the time to pour into drawing, but still wanting to use my artistic eye in some way. For years I've always had so much love for photography, but only would attempt it with my cellphone. I decided to try my luck at buying an actual camera to practice with, mainly on my family, my kids, who against their will have to take thousands of pictures for me lol. After so much practice, reading, watching videos, asking question after question to people I know as experts in the field, I finally decided to give it a shot. My friend @dayy.bee requested me for her birthday and she didn't know how hard I struggled with her photos because I had never thought to try and shoot at night. Despite the struggles, I captured some very good shots of her and the learning experience I gained was priceless. Needless to say, I'm thankful for an opportunity to continue sharing my artistic eye, but in a different way than most are used to. It's time I start back sharing on this page and I look forward to showing my growth here. #letsgo #selftaught 📸
