My Day y Noche mural is now COMPLETE!

After a little over two months of painting, this wall is finally done. Started by blocking in the main colours and slowly worked my way into the details—building patterns, adding “push and pull” depth, and adding the line work that brings all of the details together.

Thanks again to Anselmo Morales for the opportunity. I hope everyone enjoys it as they sip on a nice Mexican Coke!

Saturday morning in the life 🖤

This was extremely out of my comfort zone but I have had quite a few aspiring teachers & studio owners ask what a typical weekend looks like so I thought I would start small and film a random Saturday. I cleaned the studio the Friday before so that led to an easier start to the day!

Highlights:

• Breakfast at @dayynoche
• Shopping & seeing the fall assortment at @mygreenvelvetofgranville
• Getting the best treats for the weekend at @alfies_granville
While being able to purchase @pay10splace treats at Alfies (also the beautiful wooden bark plant is from her, as well!)
• Hike through @denisonu Biological Reserve

Happy Sunday! Enjoy your rest day 🫶🏼

Is there anything better than sending out Good Vibrations? Our original food truck cancelled, but @dayynoche is coming to save the day for Plant Bingo! Everyone come out and have a great time while supporting the heck out of these guys for showing up at the drop of a hat✌️

Public art is a powerful catalyst for creativity and unity. It ignites a community’s collective spirit and awakens a sense of wonder and limitless possibility, especially in children’s hearts.

At the Granville Center for the Arts, we are dedicated to enriching Granville with vibrant public art. Our “Art in the Heart” sculpture installations have begun transforming our village, and with the unveiling of Granville’s first official mural—Frida by Cory Camp—and another slated for mid-September, we are taking bold steps to foster a thriving public art scene.

Frida is more than a mural; it shows what a united community can achieve when they work together. Frida is a collaboration between the Granville Center for the Arts, Day Y Noche, and artist Cory Camp. Special thanks go to Anselmo at Day Y Noche, whose unwavering support—ensuring the wall and lift was ready, keeping us fed and hydrated, and being there for every need—exemplifies Granville’s spirit. It’s people like Anselmo who make our town truly special.

Creating a mural of this scale is a monumental task. It starts with meticulous design and planning. Once preparations are complete, the real magic begins. Cory, her 9-year-old daughter Grace, and Ryan McGuire rise before dawn to start painting. Working tirelessly under the blazing sun, they layer colors and adjust details to bring the vision to life. Even with three dedicated artists, it takes over 12 grueling hours to transform the wall into a work of art.

The Granville Center for the Arts thrives entirely on the dedication of volunteers. Monumental projects like Frida are made possible through the extraordinary generosity of artists like Cory Camp, who donate their time and talent. While the cost of materials for such large-scale endeavors is significant, the spirit of collaboration and community empowers our small nonprofit to achieve the impossible—bringing art to life and making it accessible to all.
