We would like to say the biggest THANK YOU to Gary & Darren. They have just completed a year of fundraising and have raised an incredible £6,283. This will fund 251 free counselling sessions 😊. Special thanks to Sally, Jo, their familes and friends for supporting them through this, including Gary’s Ironman challenge in Wales. People are not always aware of the level of training involved, and how the whole family need to be behind you. Thank you to The Thirsty Giraffe ,Bowlers Brewery and The lord Malcolm being so kind providing free venues and beer. We really couldn’t do what we do without people like this 🧡 @dazzakelly72

Headwinds and Headspace.⁣ ⁣ “The road to Wyoming did not begin in Washington D.C where this trip started. It began in luminescent lecture theatres and dingy seminar rooms, where awkward silences were absorbed by drab wallpaper. It was in my final year at university that I recognised how important exercise was for me. In fact, essential.” Ali Macleod⁣ ⁣ New website story published today from talented writer @alimacleod96 Ali reflects on a gruelling cycle trip across the States designed to challenge the mind and the body.⁣ ⁣ Link in bio⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #cycling #cyclistsofinstagram #cyclist #cyclistlife #roadtrip #cyclingacrossamerica #wyoming #bikelife #bikeride #parkrun #mentalhealth #mentalhealthmatters #sportingheads #endurancecycling #runnersofinstagram #cyclingphotos #headspace #headwind #openroads #cyclingphotography #studentmentalhealth #mentalhealthblog #exerciseformentalhealth

“Some of my training is done with a very close group of friends, who know I’ve been ill, so they let me offload or we just have banter. Exercise socially has been a huge distraction and in fact great therapy”.⁣ 🚴‍♀️ Often it’s not about the sport, it’s about the community that comes with it⁣ ⁣ Extract from “My Triathlons, Training and Mental Health” – one of our first shared stories from @dazzatri ⁣ . . . . . . ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ #triathlon #training #bike #cycling #instacycle #roadbike #mountainbiking #anxiety #depression #mentalhealth #community #sportingcommunity #friends #sport #exercise #fitness #runnersofinsta #movementismedicine #triathlete #sportingheads #mentalhealthblog #shareyourstory #therapy #parkrun

We publish personal stories to improve understanding of the mental health benefits of sport and exercise. The benefits that accompany lifestyle changes, new physical challenges, new sporting communities and new coping mechanisms. • We are not just focused on "sensational" sporting stories, we are focused on personal journeys of exercise that others can relate to or be inspired by. • We work with you on your story, you have full approval of what is published and (if you prefer) it can be completely anonymous. • Writing down your experiences is therapeutic, sharing them helps others. Always happy to chat and our previous authors are an amazingly supportive group too. 🙏 . . . . . . . . . . #sportingheads #shareyourstory #mentalhealth #exercise #movement #authorsofinstagram #fitness #active #storytelling #storyteller #run #swim #cycle #yoga #community #active #movementismedicine #mentalhealthawareness #sport
