@dbclimb picked out one of the crown jewels of acoustic guitars, the Martin D41. Thanks, Dave! Music is his outlet between the stresses of life. He and his twin brother have built a great little studio for their music therapy. Thanks, Dave! That’s an incredible guitar! Enjoy.

The Martin D41 is Inlaid in stunning abalone pearl and appointed with gold tuners, it’s more than a Dreadnought: it’s an heirloom. Premium East Indian rosewood and spruce combined with hand-carved scalloped bracing to produce rich, powerful, complex tone.

Check our our specials on Martin guitar and ask about their current special financing options.

House update: It has been a very long week. Sunday the porch roof went on and we laid hardwood flooring. Monday I was in the shop for half a day sewing and shipping orders. Tuesday i picked up the lift for two long days of finishing the shop siding. Both Tuesday and Wednesday were 16 hour days. We finished at last bit today and went back to work on the carriage( bike) doors . Thursday my cold was so bad i went to the doctor and got a chest xray to see if I have pneumonia. Negative but my lungs are full from my cold and was given steroids to clear them out. Sleeping through the night has been impossible now for two weeks. Not to be slowed down, but I am, i sanded and oiled the two rooms with finished oak floors on Friday. Saturday, today is typically a shop day but worked on hauling wood scrap and floored another room . Off to the shop for the next two days for a rest, yeah right. Tonight my friend Sarah May texted me “ Like we might have taken type 2 to a level of dumb“. Hard to argue her point. Finish electric also started this week and upstairs is fully painted. I may hire , or trade work days, some help to get the wood ceiling in next week to reduce my stress level.

I am in the shop Sunday and Monday and not really back for two weeks as it’s the final push to finish the interior by Thanksgiving. #alpineluddites #carpentry #diy #buildingdesign #designbuild #type2fun #carpenter #vermont #vermontbyvermonters #peachamvt

First floor of the new shop is up. Took about five full days to build and stand up, that includes the exterior air sealing and rain screen strapping for vertical siding. Last week was pretty hot, but fine, except for having a ladder fall over while i was on it. Landed on my feet. Then it seemed to rain part of everyday since irregardless of the forecast. Today i built the one interior wall, plumbed the exterior walls, built the stair way landing, and cut a few different stair stringers to find one i liked.

I also spent Tuesday in the attic all day blowing cellulose. Our drywall sub let me know he will be three-four weeks late, which is a bummer as it will put me back a month, but I understand why .

Next week it’s building the floor girder and second floor, which should take just 2 days, even alone. The floor system on the house took me 8 days? 10 days? Those floor trusses were heavy to move alone, well over 100 lbs each. The shop is such a simpler building. With a big floor girder and three posts, the floor trusses are just 10’ 2x8’s that overlap on too of the girder. It will take longer to cut blocks than to build the frame. I framed the ground floor 8’6” so no loss of headroom with the girder.

I am in the shop the next three days, with Anna here all day on Friday. #alpineluddites #vermont #vermontlife #peacham #carpenter #diy #building #carpentry #peachamvt #nek #workshop

New stickers and carpenters pencils are here. Look for them in your orders. Pencils were an idea stolen from @paulcomponent . FYI I always recommend using the flat side of the pencil for frame tracing. #alpineluddites #diy #carpenter #pencil #carpentry #woodworking #timberframing #stickers #blackflag #bikepacking #pooh #winniethepooh #piglet #coffee #beartrap #woodyguthrie #vermont

Thinking about getting into the backcountry for a ride this winter. @dbclimb has the gear to get your fat tire bike for a proper ride in the powder.
