We can’t thank you all enough for the love and well wishes, we have to believe they’re working, please keep them coming! 💕 Within the last 18 hours Danny has been significantly improving- When Mom arrived this morning, he had his eyes open and immediately recognized her 🥹 Onward and upward, one step at a time! The Ginger report for today; “Happy news!! Danny is much more aware and was even able to eat a bit of soft food. The few things he has spoken today (single words) are clearer and sound like the real Danny we all know and love. He still faces breathing challenges, and is on oxygen, a feeding tube, and lots of meds, but today was BIG progress! The physical therapist was able to get him out of bed, and with the assistance of a walker, he was even been able to take a few steps on his own. It took a herculean effort, but he did it!! He’s exhausted now, but I told him the many members of TEAM DANNY B, are so proud of him. He’s got this! Despite the difficulties he faces, today Danny was motivated and determined to make progress. We’ve been reading him your notes, and telling him how we’re all incredibly proud of him and continue to support him in any way we can. Your continued love, prayers, and positive energy have been instrumental in helping Danny through this difficult time, and we are grateful for your unwavering support. We will continue to keep you updated on Danny’s progress and appreciate your ongoing kindness and well wishes.”

*Love, Prayers & Good Vibes Needed* If you’re lucky enough to know my brother, Danny, you know he has one of the kindest souls the world has ever known. Danny is filled with more joy and light than seems possible for one human, and to be loved by him is a feeling of truly being seen. Right now, Danny needs a lot of love and good energy, so I’m asking for your support. After being unable to reach him for a couple days, Danny was found unresponsive in his apartment on December 8th, clean and sober. He was admitted to the ICU, where he was hooked up to a ventilator and began dialysis for rhabdomyolysis He came off the ventilator on Tuesday, but is still sedated fighting sepsis and other infections including pneumonia. Danny is a warrior, always has been, and family is by his side, with his favorite music playing. But, the road ahead is not yet clear. If Danny has ever touched your life, it would mean the world to all of us for him to wake up to a fountain of love and support from people that care about him. If you could please submit a message via the LINK ON MY PAGE, we’d really appreciate it. Whenever he wakes, we’ll start reading them to him until he can hopefully read them himself. Thank you for your good wishes, prayers, and love, we appreciate it more than I could ever convey 💕

365 days ago I felt like a different person. A year ago I feared looking back at 2021, because I felt like a failure. For a long time the world felt more dark than light. Thankfully, 2022 showed me I am stronger than I gave myself credit for. 2022 in Review: 1.) 🔭 How it started vs. how it went 2.) 💐 Paddington- In June we lost my Grandma Margot, a Holocaust survivor. On her 93rd birthday we gave her a Paddington Bear, a symbol of immigrant children like her. I’m lucky to have inherited Paddington and other treasures, but I’m most thankful for the life and traditions she gave us. 3.) ✡️ Tradition- Inheriting items means finding homes for new treasures, like the Little Mermaid I remember loving as a kid. In 2022, we continued observing Shabbat & made our first Ofrenda in honor of Mike’s Mexican heritage. 4.) 🏡 Family- While I didn’t get to see many of them in person, I’m ever grateful for their love & support. Excitingly, 2023 has trips on the books to visit; first up, meet our niece!! 5.) 🍻 Friends- From chosen family I’m lucky to see often, to friends from afar, to new buddies, to reconnecting with old friends…. If we connected in 22, or even if you’re just reading this, I’m truly grateful for you. 6.) 🌲 Nature- From beaches, to gardening, to snow, fresh air is amazing medicine. 7.) 🌊 Work- I’ve never felt more in my element, appreciated, or hopeful for what comes next; a 180 from the year before. I’m back in climate change work with NNOCCI, and got the opportunity to join a NOAA & World Wildlife Fund sustainable aquaculture messaging project. 8.) 🌉 San Fran- NNOCCI is now under the world’s largest marine mammal hospital, the Marine Mammal Center; young Kait would pinch herself. Mike and I now work remotely for Bay Area groups, so we took a vacation while visiting our ‘offices’! 9.) ❤️ Mike- 15 years with my best friend. The Birghenthals call this a LOML (Love Of My Life). I’m biased, but he’s pretty damn cool. 10.) 🐕 Maui- I wish she could understand how much her nose boops and tail wags mean; 2022 held more puppy adventures to give her an ounce of what she gives us. Here’s to 2023, may we find ourselves stronger than we imagined 💕
