POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

International success of regional bodybuilders is common place these days but it hasn't always been that way. Years ago the NPC was virtually the only route to the IFBB Pro League. There was also the possibility of winning the Overall at the IFBB World Amatuer Championships, which of course was only one person a year. It was extremely difficult for foreign athletes (outside the USA) to earn their Pro Cards. With the rise of more International competitions such as Amateur Olympias, Arnold Amateurs, etc it became easier for our athletes to at least get the opportunity to compete for a Pro Card. For me, the big turning point was the 2010 Arnold Amateur in Ohio USA where regional athletes won almost every single weight category, to include Essa Obaid from UAE taking the Overall. It could be argued that Sami Al Haddad should have won his category which would have given regional athletes a clean sweep. The regional athletes in the line up for the overall that year were Nasser Al Maskari from Oman, Hussain Jassim from Bahrain, Haji Al Beloshi from Oman, Jamal El Meadawi from Egypt (out of Kuwait) and of course Essa Obaid Overall Champion from UAE. Skip forward to today and you have all of the following regional athletes qualified for this years Mr. Olympia:
Big Ramy
Had Chopan
Mohammed Shaban
Hassan Mostafa
Mohammed Alnsoor
Kamal Elgargni
Mohamed El Azim
Anwar Al Balushi
Ahmed Fawzi
Jafar Ghaffarnezhad Azizi
Ayat Baghri
Naser Mohamed
Mazin Al Rahbi
Hameed Juma
Ahmad Ashkanani
Michael Daboul
Ahmed El Halawani
Mohamed Amine Fakhfakh
Vahid Badpei
Ali Poladvand
Abdullah Alsairai
Ahmed Shokry
Mahmood Al Maghrabi
Hossein Karimi
Imran Khan
Mehdi Kabbadj
Congratulations to all of the above regional athletes for a job well done. Good luck in Las Vegas. Let's bring home some hardware.
