ہالی ووڈ میں یہ مانا جاتا ہے کہ جو بھی اداکار ڈی سی کامکس (DC Comics) کے بڑے سپر ہیرو کرداروں، خاص طور پر سپرمین (Superman) کا رول ادا کرتا ہے، اس کی زندگی میں یا تو کوئی بڑا حادثہ پیش آتا ہے یا پھر اس کا فلمی کیریئر بری طرح تباہ ہو جاتا ہے。

مشہور مثالیں جن کی وجہ سے یہ وہم پھیلا:

جارج ریوز (George Reeves): 1950ء کی دہائی میں سپرمین کا کردار نبھانے والے یہ اداکار اپنی شادی سے چند دن پہلے مشکوک حالت میں گولی لگنے سے ہلاک پائے گئے تھے。

کرسٹوفر ریویو (Christopher Reeve): انہوں نے 1970 اور 1980 کی دہائی میں سپرمین کا لازوال کردار ادا کیا。 1995 میں گھڑ سواری کے ایک حادثے کے دوران وہ گردن سے نیچے مکمل طور پر مفلوج ہو گئے اور بعد میں انتقال کر گئے。

برینڈن راؤتھ (Brandon Routh): 2006 میں 'Superman Returns' فلم میں کام کرنے کے بعد ان کا ہالی ووڈ کیریئر تقریباً رک گیا اور انہیں دوبارہ کوئی بڑی فلم نہ مل سکی۔

حقیقت: یہ کوئی جادوئی یا حقیقی نحوست نہیں ہے، بلکہ ہالی ووڈ کی دنیا میں محض اتفاقات (coincidences) اور اچھے برے کیریئر کے اتار چڑھاؤ کو ملا کر ایک کہانی بنا دی گئی ہے。
