We came to Boston to talk disability justice and philanthropy. Somehow this was also part of the agenda. 😂

So good seeing y’all! Keri Gray smiles and flashes a peace sign with three fellow disability justice leaders gathered around a conference table.

Protesting isn't enough. We need to actually be at the table. #A11yShow

The closely timed attacks on the disability community are by design.

Here are some orgs that are working to fight these attacks:

I know I painted politicians with a broad stroke in this video, so feel free to highlight any that are being productive allies for the disability community. One I will highlight here in MA is Ayanna Pressely @ayannapressley who recently introduced the FAST Repairs for Wheelchairs Act, which is aimed at streamlining the wheelchair repair process for Medicare Advantage beneficiaries. Specific support and legislation like this is what we need!

Transcript: There have been so many attacks on the disability community in the last few weeks, and this is by design. It’s during the summer, they want to throw so many attacks that we get overwhelmed and too exhausted to fight back. Obviously the call to action is to talk to your representatives. I have to be honest, it annoys me that we even have to because approximately a quarter of US adults are disabled, so they should be being loud about this already. These are the moments as a disability community and voting block that we should be looking back on when these people are running for office. What did you do during the time when attack after attack has come on the disability community? I also want to say people in power right now are saying that we should be going back to a Christian-based government. I’m a Christian, but I believe in the separation of church and state. However, just for fun, if we consider going back to a Christian-based government, so many of these recent attacks are directly against what Jesus actually said! The sad thing is a lot of people just put their head in the sand, and these are the times we are going to look back on to see who was a true ally and supporter of the disability community.

🎻♿️🌺 I had a wonderful time attending the "It Wasn't Meant To Be Perfect" Conversation with @gaelynnlea and @harvardbookstore at @cambridgepubliclibrary!🥰 Not only did we have a wonderful discussion on music and Disability Representation in Literature, but this was also the first event I went to in which an author put on a full concert with an ASL Interpretator after leading the discussion, and Gaelynn was fantastic on the violin! 🎻🎵 I also had the pleasure of meeting Nieta Greene of @dcdinc12, @requipmentinc CEO @adrianamallozzi, and @thecolleenflanagan of the City of Boston Disabilities Commission! (Thank you so much for including me in the above photo!)❤️ The author was gifted with a Chocolate Babka and Lemon Poppyseed Babka from @bakeybabka.🌺♿️🎻

Plain and simple mobility aids aren’t a one size fits all. Different people have different needs and even within that some people’s disabilities are dynamic meaning their need fluctuates. I am still so grateful for all the important conversations I got to have with Disability Community For Democracy. 🩷🖤

Kindness is the heart of accessibility and inclusion. I had an incredible time chatting with Nieta Greene from Disability Community for Democracy about why I chose to return to the Miss Amazing stage for 2026. People often ask why I decided to compete again after being crowned in 2024, and the answer is simple: the chance to challenge myself and share my advocacy on a national level is an opportunity I could not pass up. It is about more than the crown; it is about the platform to advocate, the community that cheers us on, and knowing that every voice makes a difference. I am honored to represent Michigan again and continue pushing for a more inclusive, kind society.
