Summer highlights included a great few wks in NY with family including @mickeylemer, @sklemer, @keithlemer and @vanessa.lemer (plus her amazing @UMich friends šŸ’™šŸ’›), celebrating my niece’s milestone 25th and enjoying my bday surrounded by awesome people (that’s you @dcohn), including a few from 25+ years ago who have re-entered my world. And while I didn’t get nearly enough time with the Penn ā¤ļøšŸ’™ crew, I was able to squeeze in a few pre-dinner tequilas with some of them. Unfortunately @lexlemer couldn’t make it as she is now a working woman in LA but I did get her in London early July. If I didn’t get a chance to see you this summer, let’s fix that sooner rather than later.

2024 ā¤ļø

The only thing I hate more than negativity is toxic positivity. So I’ll be real. 2023 was the worst year of my life. It was a year of great loss. I lost almost everything a person could possibly lose. My home, my mother. Even my dog.

I was absolutely miserable for the majority of the year. BUT I also lost some things that I needed to lose. Toxic people, environments, and most importantly, ego.

The biggest lesson I learned was that you cannot attach your identity to anything. Because anything can be taken away from you. I am still far from healed, but I will say, if not for a sound ceremony I did in October, I could not have survived the last 6 weeks. I’m not exaggerating when I say, it saved my life in more ways than one (more on this later).

While I have much to grieve, I also have a few things to be grateful for: My amazing 2.5 month summer in Europe, where I reconnected with family, my health šŸ™, and my wonderful, supportive friends.

Despite everything, I remain hopeful. Sometimes you need to be torn down and ripped apart before you can discover who you’re supposed to be. One thing I know for certain is that my mom would want me to carry on. She’d want me to be happy and thrive. And for no other reason than that, I will try my damndest.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy new year. #2023 #2023recap #life #loss #death #rebirth #friends #love #endings #beginnings
