For the first three months of baby boy‘s life, we had the pleasure of experiencing true community like never before. Almost weekly we had a friend or family member who traveled hours to Chicago, sometimes leaving their own children, to help us with baby boy.

The immediate postpartum phase is one of the hardest times parents will experience. Learning how to balance life with a newborn isn’t easy and I think a village is imperative for success. Thank you for your sacrifice, thank you for the love you provided, thank you for the late night or early morning shifts you took to let mommy and daddy get some sleep. We could not imagine doing this without y’all! Carson is so loved!

Bowties & Bottles 🤵🏾‍♂️🍼 for Baby Carson! We were showered with so much love at our Opelika Shower. It’s such a blessing to come back home and be surrounded by all of the friends, family, church aunties and mamas that raised me as I venture into my own motherhood journey!

Thanks to Muriel Heard for the beautiful decor, my sis Shayla for the photos, Ms. Michelle, Angel, Mrs. Camille, Mrs. Rose, Piper, Ms. Glenda Baker, and Mack for the yummy food and drinks, Amber for the cutest cake and Mrs. Cynthia for the sweets. Daddy for running the onesie station. My big sis and bffs for MCing and of course my mama, Oprah of Opelika, for putting it all together. Love you all more! 🩵💙

I’m not going to lie to y’all, April tried to take your girl out but I am ready for the May Flowers that April showers bring! 💐

Here’s a little peek into some of the things I did this month:
1. Successfully troubleshot a surgical complication with no harm to the patient, your girl is almost ready to graduate 🙌🏾
2. Sent my mini me off to her senior prom. 🌹
3. Stayed consistent in the gym. 🏋🏾‍♀️
4. Spa day with hubby. 🧖🏾‍♀️
5. Presentation to my old residency program on MIGS. 👩🏾‍🏫
6. Tete’s babies 🫶🏾
7. The best sausage in the country is from Alabama!!
8. Siblings at grandmas funeral ❤️
9. Helped my doctor bestie with some surgery advice 💁🏾‍♀️
10. Staying committed to my healthy hair journey with regular salon appointments and protective styles. 🪮

June 8, 1924 a living legend was born! 99 years later, we continue to celebrate the amazing matriarch you are. 6 children, dozens of grands and great grands and you never fail to make us all feel your love. The things you have seen in your lifetime — child of enslaved/sharecroppers, wife of a WWII veteran, leader in the community, and friend to all. Soft spoken, but when she speaks — you listen. Thank you God for this woman. I love you, Tbaby 💜
