We are always happy to return to 100% @dcvegetarian for their incredibly satisfying comfort food. They demonstrate so convincingly that you don’t have to sacrifice great taste while being kinder to yourself, the other animals, and our 🌎.
⠀
@dcvegetarian is open for takeout, delivery, and on-site dining: Tues – Sat 11 AM – 8:00 PM, and Sun 11 AM – 3 PM.
⠀
We savored:
⠀
#2 Sausage Muffin – organic seasoned tofu, herby house-made sausage patty, melty 🌱-based cheese, tomato, spinach, and lively roasted red pepper aioli on an English muffin. Comforting, satisfying, hits all the right notes.
⠀
Caesar Salad – organic romaine, capers, almond parmesan, and herby, rustic croutons in a creamy, tangy garlicky Caesar dressing. The briny capers in this generously sized salad are a clever, tasty, and compassionate replacement for anchovies.

DC Metro Summer Restaurant Week is almost over, and I couldn’t let it end without sharing a few of my favorite vegetarian-friendly finds! 🌿🍽️

From creative pizzas and flavorful Ethiopian dishes to elevated dining experiences, these restaurants prove that vegetarian options can be anything but boring:
✨ 2941 — Falls Church
✨ All-Purpose Pizzeria — Shaw
✨ KAYU— Dupont Circle
✨ DLina — Mount Vernon Triangle
✨ ala — Dupont Circle
✨ Ethiopic — H Street Corridor
✨ Tâmashaa — Columbia Heights

Restaurant Week runs through August 30, so there’s still time to make a reservation and try somewhere new.

My personal top three? You’ll have to watch the video to find out! Which restaurant would you try first?

This is the first day that we have had to be able to go all the way around the building on the sidewalk. This is glorious.

We are always happy to return to 100% vegan @dcvegetarian for their incredibly satisfying comfort food. They demonstrate so convincingly that you don’t have to sacrifice great taste while being kinder to yourself, the other animals, and our 🌎. They are participating in @portlandmercury’s Portland Burger Week, which runs through Sunday, 8/16. The crave-worthy burger that they made especially for this event is only $10.
⠀
@dcvegetarian is open for takeout, delivery, and on-site dining: Tues – Sat 11 AM – 8:00 PM, and Sun 11 AM – 3 PM.
⠀
We savored:
⠀
BBQ Chicken Bacon Cheeseburger – crispy 🐥-free patty, house-marinated 🐷-free tempeh 🥓, 🐄🥛-free cheese, house BBQ sauce, crispy fried onions, pickles, and @followyourheart Vegenaise on a sesame seed bun. Crave-worthy combination of fantastic ingredients.
⠀
Caesar Salad – organic romaine, capers, almond parmesan, and herby, rustic croutons in a creamy, tangy garlicky Caesar dressing. The briny capers in this generously sized salad are a clever, tasty, and compassionate replacement for anchovies.
⠀
Brownie – this rich and fudgy house-made vegan brownie was full of chocolate chips, especially on top, and was decadently delicious.

@portlandmercury Burger Week ranking.
I sacrificed myself 😅 and tried all the vegan burger places of Portland Burger Week (yes, I had burger for every lunch this week lol at least I biked to all the places and I promise I ate raw veggies and fruit too 🫣) and here is my ranking

Winner, first place: Secret Pizza Society with the ‘Rhaenyra’s Reign’. A housemade black bean patty, cashew nacho cheese, pickled jalapeno and Portland fresh salsa in between a housemade bun.
- this burger might not look the best but it is the best. Loving all the labor behind the scenes, the flavor, the spiceness and literally everything about it. It’s definitely a winner!

Second place: goes to Mirisata with the ‘Deviled Burger’. Their famous deviled pork, Impossible patty, curry leaf ranch, banana peppers, tomato and onion.
- this burger is small but big in flavor. It’s unique and definitely a great combo of ingredients. The deviled pork is so good and so is the curry leaf ranch. Second place!

Third place: goes to Next Level with the ‘Smoky Mountain BBQ chicken burger. Crispy chik’n patty topped with house-made Nashville fire seasoning, grilled jalapeños, pepper jack cheese, and crispy onion rings. Served on a butter toasted pretzel bun with Memphis sweet BBQ sauce and organic lettuce and tomato
- this burger definitely was the best looking burger of all of them. I love pretzel buns and everything was very good, but Secret pizza and Mirisata were just better. Still a great tasting burger. And their milkshakes are always outstanding.

Fourth place: goes to DC Vegetarian with their ‘BBQ chicken bacon cheeseburger’. Crispy breaded chicken patty, house BBQ sauce, house-marinated tempeh bacon, a slice of cheese, pickles, crispy fried onions, and vegenaise on a sesame seed bun.
- this burger is good but not as good as the others. I love DC for their sandwiches and especially their Reuben goes in my Portland top five but the Burger Week burger was not my favorite.

Number four and last Burger Week stop is @dcvegetarian . I gotta say I love DC usually very much for their sandwiches, especially their Reuben is outstanding, but the burger week burger couldn’t make it up on the list compared with the other burgers. It was not bad but had super hard competition. I am a (irregular) customer at DC since they had the food cart Downtown and I highly recommend to try their delicious Reuben, it’s one of my top five in town. Their burger week burger is a BBQ chicken bacon cheeseburger. I will write a separate post and compare all the burgers 🍔

💔 After 24 years of changing the vegan dessert game, @eatstickyfingers is closing its doors.

Founded in 2002 as one of the country's very first fully vegan bakeries, the Washington, DC institution spent more than two decades proving that plant-based cupcakes, cakes, cinnamon rolls, and pastries could win over anyone—skeptics included. Along the way, it earned two Cupcake Wars titles and became a beloved destination for vegan comfort food.

Sticky Fingers' final day will be August 2, so there's still time to stop by for one last treat and celebrate a bakery that helped shape the modern vegan food movement.

Have a favorite Sticky Fingers memory or dessert? Share it with us in the comments.
