Pretty much the @__shigeto section. Has been great to see his career evolve. Such a talent.

Just realized I missed some of his releases so going to add a few more. I am only including covers from @ghostly. Spectral will get it's own section.

Thanks to @dogpasta for all your help and @sv4 / @ghostly crew

Thanks again for your support. What a wild ride.

I wrote this piece about an exhibition titled "Holding Time" organized by Z Behl in NYC in 2020. Most of the artists were classmates attending Stuyvesant High School, blocks from the towers the morning of September 11, 2001.

I thought I would be in New York escaping Hurricane Ida, but ended up staying in New Orleans because of Covid. Z gave me a tour of the exhibition virtually. It was incredibly moving. I wrote about it for New Orleans Review. (link in stories)

This morning I am thinking about time which used to feel like a lake when I was a child and now it feels like a river.

See you tomorrow. Thank you to @ysapinyol and the @monirafoundation for making this happen. . . Organizing this exhibition with these artists from my childhood has been all of the things it should be- powerful, humbling, terrifying, and gratifying. So many New Yorkers understand and rmeember the ways in which our own experiences, our own processing, our lives, were disrupted by the aftermath. It’s not that day itself, the deaths- it’s the way the government- all authorities- became evermore present in our lives - controlling, demanding, and empowered towards a fascist “patriotism”.
@david.micah.le and I are hoping that by gathering together some of these sensitive, attentive, critical, and discerning voices, we can hold space as well as time for the subtle complexities of the myriad narratives, experiences, and feelings of those intimately affected survivors who used art as a way through. These artists were all adolescent - and our generation as a whole was shaped by this trauma. These works speak to the impossibility of seeing something so large, and simultaneously the triumphant way art can catch something that can’t otherwise be seen.

A little thunder and hail was no match for Rae’s adorable coat that her mahm @j.topolski made (📸: mahm, ps she makes really cool jewelry too! @topolski_jewelry)

We had a little fear of storms today, but Rae was a trooper and got some #LooseLeashWalking on the roof in before the sky opened up ⛈

I wasn’t joking when I said ask a #DogTrainer or #DogWalker (or anyone that works outside on the regular) what the weather is.. we know!

And when my #ReactiveDog owners like Rae’s mom tell me they “live by the Doppler...” I know we’re in the ZONE 🙌

When I meet reactive dog #pawrents, they are dreading going outside, crossing entire streets, hiding between cars... anything to avoid that barking and lunging 😔

(I relate, as a reactive #dog pawrent myself!)

Those actions are *Management and Prevention* strategies, and they are absolutely part of the process. We can’t have a #CalmDog if they’re constantly in #SurvivalMode 😥

It’s all the layers of training between Management and #BehavioralModification that pawrents have a hard time identifying.

Trainers know the levels! We know how to identify your #dogs’ triggers and thresholds, keep them below it, and slowly change their perspectives on the things they fear.

It is *not* as easy as people think. Mainly because... we have HUMAN brains. And HUMAN brains are *not* the same as DOG brains.

I teach my owners how to do all of the above, PLUS read #CanineBodyLanguage 🐕

My absolute favorite part is when we start *hunting for triggers.* 😁

Suddenly we aren’t hiding behind cars and crossing streets, but actively SEEKING triggers because we know how to work with our dog... and we are EXCITED about it 👍

When my owners are checking the weather, they are EXCITED to go outside and tackle the triggers their dogs are working on, because they know what to do. And knowing is half the battle 🌈

To be fair, Rae’s mom is checking the weather because Rae hates rain too 🙃 but also... because positive changes in behavior are starting to show up as well 👏

When you’re ready to start enjoying walks again... 🤙

In the spirit of Game Day, here’s Rae playing a fun and *functional* game to assist with reactivity towards her cat sis, Luz 🐈‍⬛

This baby deer is going places! 🦌

Like... a lot more places once she and Luz learn to share space 🙌

Super great job all around with these guys!! 👏👏👏

Yes, Virginia, you can work on reactivity training virtually 😉

Thanks to @j.topolski for providing this awesome #pawgress vid! 🎥
