New music. Finally ~

I’m beyond happy the day finally has come that I can share my new song ‘Insomnia’ with you guys. This one is really special for me. Not only because it’s so darn close to my heart but also how we managed to produce it. Therefore I’d like to take my hat off for Mark van Bruggen and how he managed to glue my rough ideas together to this - in my most unprejudiced opinion - perfect little gem. Joie de vivre at his best if you ask me.

The song gives a little peek into my childhood and the relationship I had with my father when I was a kid. It tells a little story about how we lived together and how much we loved each other. With this song I thank him for all he has ever done for me and my family. And with this song I will honour him till the day I die. Listening to it gives me joy, strength, it makes me smile and cry at the same time. Especially the end:

“We waltz through the days
Under blue Southern skies.
As I dance on your feet
Lifting my chin up to your eyes.
You say that you love me...
you will always take care of me.
Saying you never will leave me
or this world behind.“

These lyrics bring me back to the town where I was born. To a time when we were all still young and he came home from work for lunch to give us a big hug. I can see myself dancing with him in our orange/ brown 80’s kitchen. I have no idea how it resonates with you guys. I can only hope you feel what I felt when I wrote it.

The artwork is done in a coop by Barbara Mueller and myself last summer. It hints at the album’s artwork and shows the process I’ve been through making the movie (you must come and see).

Last but not least I’d like to thank the band. The last few years I’ve spent a lot of time writing songs. First on guitar and since last year more and more on piano. Yet… I’ll never be that skilled musician you are, meaning I’m always at the mercy of your talent to bring my songs to life. Forever grateful.

“Een lofzang op de sleur van het bestaan” aldus @nordgrond over hun nieuwe single Bij Het Oude. Het is de derde van Nordgrond na September en Zondagskind.

Daarnaast (swipe 👉🏻) komt @martinlapelleofficial vandaag met zijn eerste piano track op mijn kersverse pianolabel @aragostapiano. Een ode aan de nacht: La Vie Nocturne

La Vie Nocturne is the seventh original piano track for Martin La Pelle (@martinlapelleofficial) and the first under Aragosta Piano. A new chapter for the professional keys player. La Vie Nocturne is an homage to the night.
