@deadboychi , aka DJ Friendly of Banana Clan and Boom Tap Sound, came up through late new wave and alternative dance before finding a deeper home in jungle by the late ’90s. A formative trip to London Telepathy rave, then Blackmarket Records the next day helped shape an approach rooted in records, patience, and sound.

In Houston, he was part of the energy that helped build the early jungle and drum & bass underground: throwing parties, holding residencies at Tuesday Night Ovens and the legendary Orbit Room, and serving as drum & bass buyer for Chemistry Records. Over the years he’s shared lineups with artists like Doc Scott, Bailey, Aquasky, EZ Rollers, Bad Company, Klute, Teebee, Ray Keith, Andy C, and DJ Hype.

Known for clean mixing, deep selection, and a sharp sense of phrasing, Deadboy plays with the kind of control that only comes from decades behind the decks. While jungle is the foundation, he also mixes through house, techno, disco, and progressive tunes on the other side of his record collection.
