Sometimes a dump is picture perfect. Seeing this question the compost pile made us think. Is Happiness Overrated? 💭👉

In a sea of waste; with old fries, napkins, rinds and sticks. We wonder this question as we do our contamination wade through. We check the bins and pick out plastic wrappers, rubber bands, plastic cartons and the contaminant plethora.

And flipping it over, something interesting catches our eye. Usually any verbiage is illegible by the time we get to it. Napkins and paper products can’t stand up under the weight of chicken legs and juicy tomatoes.

And to our surprise- we find this. A needle in a haystack, but even better! A love note, addressed to us? Could it be?

And with that- the question is decidedly answered. Happiness is not overrated!
Thank you @deadrockreview, for bringing a smile to our faces before your paper enters its next life cycle. ❤️ Check them out, everybody!

BUTCHER HOLLER HERE WE COME A linguistic immersive experience entirely lit by headlamps.

1973, West Virginia. Following a cave collapse, 5 coal miners struggle to survive the dwindling supply of oxygen, the lack of food and water, the unravelling sense of passing time, and, even more threatening, their own competing natures. Butcher Holler Here We Come is a descent into the male psyche-in-crisis where secret desires, carnal urges, and hidden memories come boiling to the surface in a primitive territory of Earth that mirrors the subliminal mind.

🗞️ it’s hereeeeeeee! ISSUE 2. FALL 2025

second edition of @deadrockreview
- a Montana love letter to humanity -

it was wildly exciting to stop by @studiocoffeeroasters this morning for a weekend treat, the chocolate oatmeal scone is terrible don’t ever try it (jk is the best I’m not good at sharing) but! While sneaking a little cream into my coffee, there she was!!

In print!

On paper!

Something I can take, hold, read and pass along, this type of sharing I can get very down with. This is also fulfilling so many aspects of my Aquarius Midheaven, I now know what people are talking about when they say “you’ll jus know when it’s right” and I’ve tried contributing to other publications, magazine, blogs and articles…but none of them have felt like getting my words in here.

A Montana love letter to humanity. Sign me up⚡️

Thank you @daltoncbrink you have made something really special here and I am so honored to be included, thank you thank you thank you!!

At long last, a release date: Wednesday, July 15—just one teensy, negligible month late. Oh well, so it goes.

This will be your first chance to learn who nabbed the big prizes and made selection. To celebrate, we’ll have live music from The Dane Andrew Thompsen Band (@dane_andrew_thompsen, @jammasterjarvi), local craft beer from an ice-cold keg, and, because we love local print-only media and believe in the power of a rising tide lifting all boats, copies of The Deadrock Review (@deadrockreview), published by our friends just over the hill in Livingston.

Come grab a copy, shake a hand, drink a beer, bust a move, and support local writing.

This is really cool. We’ve got a stack of the @deadrockreview at the OG cafe. Come grab a copy!

My grandfather read the paper every day, as I’m sure a lot of people’s grandfathers did. The smell and feel of a newspaper transports me to the couch in his living room. We live in an age of pay walled online publications and ai bull shit, so seeing something real like this come to life in our community is super inspiring. Good on y’all! Keep it up!
