One of my favorite acceleration drills: Single-Leg Accelerations.
Here’s why every athlete should be doing them👇🏾

1. Front-Leg Load
You learn how to properly load that front leg so you can push instead of just stepping out. Acceleration is about projection — this drill teaches that feeling.

2. Back-Leg Attack
The back leg has to come through aggressively. No lazy knee lift. You’re training the timing of driving the thigh through and attacking back into the ground.

3. Low Heel Recovery
This drill cleans up that bad habit of lifting the heel too high. Instead, you learn to cycle low, stay compact, and keep the foot working behind you.

4. First-Step Efficiency
When you master this drill, your first 3–5 steps instantly get sharper. You’re not reaching… you’re pushing, projecting, and staying powerful.

Coaches, try this with your athletes.
Athletes, add this to your acceleration day and thank me later. ⚡️🔥

Goal: Build front-side mechanics, rhythm, and early-race acceleration.

Progression:
• Popovers: Lead leg up, snap the trail leg down, everything happens in front of the hurdle.
• 1-Step → 3-Step → 5-Step: Rhythm, spacing, and keeping the hips tall. Fixes heel collapse and teaches fast exchanges.

Sled Work:
• Sled walks (heavy): Activate glutes + reinforce knee drive.
• Sled sprints (moderate): Teach projection and forward shin angles.
• Free sprint: Apply the power you just created.

Hurdle Starts (2–3 hurdles):
• Attack the first three barriers — you’re still accelerating.
• Keep posture, stay aggressive, and maintain tight trail-leg mechanics.

Key Coaching Points:
• Hurdle action stays front-side.
• Rhythm wins races — between-hurdle running matters most.
• You only carry the momentum you create early.

YOU vs YOU 🥇
At the end of the day, it’s not about the competition—it’s about the mirror. The real battle is showing up for yourself when you don’t feel like it.

Shoutout to Miss D 🙌🏾—she’s been locked in, putting in the work, and having those tough conversations about goals and where she wants to go. Progress is proof that consistency pays off.

To every athlete in that gray area—wondering what tomorrow holds—just remember: it’s YOU vs YOU. The work you put in today determines the results you’ll celebrate tomorrow. Keep showing up. Keep grinding. The work will speak. 🔥

Speed without purpose is wasted motion. Discipline without intention is just activity.

Be intentional. Move with purpose. That’s how you build greatness on the track—and in life. 🏃‍♂️🔥

✅ Every stride counts
✅ Practice builds race habits
✅ Don’t waste energy
✅ Stay mentally locked in
✅ Small details = big results

Be intentional. Move with purpose. ⚡️
